    IT nightmare

    IT Applications Analyst (Current Employee)

    ProsFlexible work schedule
    Work from home opportunities
    Salaries average
    Mediocracy is seen as success

Consabmissmal IT practices leave you wondering how the company survives
iT is quickly outsourced to poorly run offshore centers
Waste of time, people and resources is expected and accepted
IT run by sqrd old men who follow practices from the 1980s

Advice to Senior ManagementCut the upper level fat and let some of the newly acquired IT professionals bring some new technology, ideas and energy into this SLOW, FAT, sinking ship.

The direction of the company is horrible

Too much policies where it is hard to find a real added value, including too much meeting with no decision, nor vision.

    Q&SC (Current Employee)

Pros- if you want a proper balance between your private and professionnal life
    - if you dont like challenges as a factor of stress..as no pressure to relevant accountable results

Cons- despite the numerous companies bought, no integration process exists and people are just left on their own to match the daily business and what the corporate want you to apply
    - lack of vision, permanent changes within the organisation without any change management process
    - overall poor level of management in certain area of business
    - not an intercultural company
    - no human ressources policies and carrer management only managed by employees themselves, as well as poor choices of training

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement should care of "lessons learned" in past bought companies process to start to apply it..and should respect their employee better, as well as last but not least making "thinking out the box" not forbidden anymore to allow cretivity, challenges and personnal development.

    Awful Awful Awful

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsPeople work together well, when management doesn't get in the way.
Good collaboration between groups; training, while compulsory, does benefit the employees.

ConsManagement openly plays favorites and encourages "clique" style atmosphere. Management encourages toxic atmosphere between employees and does not respect or attempt to retain actual talent, only keeps "friends".

Advice to Senior ManagementGet rid of your current "mid level" management teams... most do not have the necessary supervisory skills or actual credentials to be running the company at this level.

    Could do better

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsVariety of work, getting to know some major companies that are customers. encourage training though not always seeming relevant. pay n conditions ok

ConsPromotions rare and only seem to happen if your face fits...layoff of staff then blatantly spending money unneccessarily elsewhere

Advice to Senior ManagementJudge staff on what they can do or abilities rather than who their friends are or what they look like

    Work Elsewhere

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsIf you are French, no worries, full employment
If you are ExCom, you are a protected group and set for life

ConsIf you are not French, start worrying, since your job is an opportunity to maintain French full employment
Management does not listen to employees, only to JPT
Appearance is everything, all else (including the truth) is irrelevant

Advice to Senior ManagementWiden the options and profit sharing scheme, currently way too limited to support the co. ambition
Shake up the ExCom with new blood and outsiders, avoid protecting the familar favorites
Promote truth telling, not beautiful powerpoint slides
Listen to your employees more, challenge your managers to make their employees successful, not promoting themselves and creating empires

I don't even know where to start!

    Services Sales Executive (Former Employee)
    Parsippany, NJ

ProsMoney was ok, they pretty much leave you alone to run your own territory. Fairly good service reps although most are pretty green. The product quality is still fairly good, but slipping fast. Alot of recall issues, not a great product line for a services salesperson. Coming from the manufacturing world I couldn't believe the number of salespeople they have for thier standard product when everything is sold through distribution anyway? The long-term Square D folks >20years were
    professional and technically competent.

ConsLack of inside support, lack of managerial support, lack of technical sales talent. This job never ended as they added more and more territory and made up product to your work load with absolutely no management support. Management is too busy looking over thier shoulder up the chain to care about the average employee. Specifically in NJ/NY the management was terrible. Constant struggle to get inside people to follow rules made up by management as you go. Always be prepared to leave this company as they lie to get you in and drop you in a heartbeat if it doesn't fit managements mold. I saw so many people come and go and come back, I got the feeling they really had no idea of what they were doing. Covered probably the largest territory for services for 5 years without a thanks, only what have you done for me lately. Too bad the French had to go and mess up such a good brand.
Everything is "by Schneider", Square D, APC etc..
Tough to sell services when they really only have one or two products. The rest is all sub to an aquisition company and passthrough to make the services $$ look bloated and like actual growth.

Advice to Senior ManagementTo senior management, listen to both sides of the story before you jump to decisions.
    To middle management listlen period.
To anyone looking to join this company, have a 3-5 year plan to get out.

Not a place for those who would succeed on their merits

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

Pros- They know what they are about.
    - They are profitable.
    - If you play the game you can be successful.

Cons- Not very much possible to excel based on merit.
    - Must excel at politicking to succeed.
    - Not technology-oriented.

Advice to Senior ManagementI don't see why I should offer them advice when what they are doing works for them. They have their culture and you will fit or you won't. They are who they are.

    Agree with Unprofessional

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsCompensation is ok. There is ability move around to other areas.

ConsToo much bureaucracy which makes it harder to get anything done. Have to agree with fosters a culture of mistrust and fear. Much of the time, upper management doesn't seem to care about what's really going on and is only interested in their own agendas.

Advice to Senior ManagementEncourage the groups to work together. Try to find out what's going on instead of rushing to judgment.

Growing in size not in market or customer intelligence-ignoring voice of the customer

    (Current Employee)

ProsThe brand name, training opportunities (in the past), global presence, safety record, lots of talented people

Conszero career growth, promotions based on seniority rather then accomplishments, no attempt to retain talented people, very bad system of compensation, no sense of urgency to service customer needs

Advice to Senior ManagementPrioritize customer service at the cost of shaking things up. Complacency needs to be shaken out.Have a growth plan for talented people. There are too many silos , managers do what is best for their "kingdom" , there is no customer centric approach. Get rid of managers who cannot give up their kingdoms.
