I have been working at Schneider Electric

    Pros

They care for the planet through saving its energy consumption. They also really care about their people. All the managers I have had do a great job of supporting a healthy work/life balance.

    Cons

The US business is not doing well and they are laying off people and cutting some positions right now. Still keep checking job boards though, some are hiring still.

    Pros

Great Health Benefits - Challenging Projects at the Front Edge.

    Cons

Work-Life Balance at my branch was zero. High Turnover was the first of many signs that employee satisfaction wasn't considered a priority.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Happy Employees are productive and loyal employees. Try some training on this. A lot of time wasted on interviewing for all those positions that are constantly being vacated by dissatisfied employees could be saved, along with some otherwise decent employees.

I have been working at Schneider Electric full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Process-based approach is a pro, as everyone knows what they need to do. You can easily get hired to entry-level positions

    Cons

Grade system doesn't work, meaning that compensation is poor
Low possibilities for growth outside France as all the strategic roles are more or less concentrated there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest more in own employees to benefit from the experience they gain working in the company. I see many professionals leave company just to have better salary.

    Lacking in many ways- Singapore

Current Employee - Business Function in Singapore (Singapore)
Current Employee - Business Function in Singapore (Singapore)

I have been working at Schneider Electric full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

E-learning courses: tons of online courses for employees to take
Flexible working hours: No time sheet
Bosses: Pretty nice and easy going

    Cons

Development: SE pride itself in having a robust program to develop our employees. So you have to do mandatory e courses. Yep, that's about it. No other training available. No budget for training. You approach your manager with an external course that you are interested in and they say no. Irony, as we are told WE OWN OUR OWN DEVELOPMENT

Management: Leaders do not lead. No walking the talk. No focus planning. Very reactive. I would think they lack the skills to be leaders so not sure how did they get into that position.

Performance Management: Well, since leaders without leadership can be leaders, there's something wrong with how we view performance then.

SLOW: Speaking as company as a whole, slow to adapt new technology, new way of working. Nothing moves.

Disorganized with lack of focus: company LOVES to roll out campaigns. Learning week, Safety day, Marketing day, Sales day, Hr surveys, communication surveys. Without proper timeline and directions. Deadlines not negotiable and if you are not a champion of a campaign, that's a rarity. It seems functions are just interested to meet their own selfish goals and objectives with no regard on country's impact and employees feelings.

Office Culture: No collaboration, no teamwork, lots of pointing fingers and lots of complaining. in short, everyone is unhappy and that creates a somewhat tense environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop talking about what needs to be changed and actually make changes. Act like owners.
