    Pros

Schneider is on of the world's largest manufacturers of electrical distribution gear with offices in 140 countries. I have traveled the world working for SE and have enjoyed meeting many other employees. We help people mange energy - how could that not be great?

    Cons

It is a BIG company. Often times you feel like someone is pulling the strings half a world away. Sometimes it is difficult to build teams when people are scattered and re-directing an effort can be a monumental task.

    Advice to Management

Allow business units to manage their own business and be responsible for it.

    Pros

The nuclear division has excellent hardware / software platforms to build from.

    Cons

The nuclear division is basically a startup. And, with the purchase of Invensys by Schneider the future is not clear. Schneider divested their nuclear team 4 years prior to the purchase of Invensys.

    Pros

Employees are given a lot of freedom. While expressing a desire to reduce the number of managers, the CEO recently called on people to self manage or get out. Working remotely or with flexible hours is common. Projects range from stimulating to dull. If one shows interest and the willingness to work hard, more stimulating work will be made available. The company offers support for IEEE memberships and activity. It also encourages pursuing a P.E. licence and will financially support that pursuit.

    Cons

Communication can be difficult. Not only because Lotus Notes is still the primary means of email communication, but because the geographic dispersion of the many groups that it is important to communicate with. Ancient programs are still in use throughout. There is a push to replace them. However, it is proceeding slowly. A lot of the core business is old technology where innovation is not present. Some roles will be boring with more focus on accuracy than problem solving.

    Advice to Management

Quote 2 Cash needs replaced ASAP. Invest in nicer office buildings where employees want to go and cross pollinate with other business units.

    Pros

Great money if you don't mind working a lot of volunteer over time. Union ran, people become like family, etc

    Cons

It's a lot of drama at times and all about who you know there.

    Pros

Great company to work for. Innovation always surrounds you. Co-workers are very supportive and helpful. Great Environment to be in.

    Cons

Long commute. Sometimes the company can get too big, and you feel completely unnoticed and used. Nothing significant

    Advice to Management

Be sure to reward employees and take an interest in them. Being released apparently "due to the fact that they didn't know I was graduating and already filled the position" isn't the greatest feeling in the world.

    Pros

The people were great, i really enjoyed being around everyone. The job, and products weren't too bad. I really enjoyed our company events.

    Cons

Pay, work life balance, job security were all sub par in my opinion. Expect people to come in brand new and make more money within a year. The starting pay is mid range, and expect a flat line going forward.

    Advice to Management

Pay everyone better. Provide more opportunities for promotion. Stop hiring then firing so many people

    Cons

The pay should be higher and their is limited room for advancement.

    Pros

Great benefits, good leadership, and very innovative. Nice learning potential and training if necessary. Mostly hands off management after goal setting and expectations are provided.

    Cons

Since its a large global organization, it takes time to get things done internally. Sometimes you can't help but feel like just an employee number as opposed to be totally integrated into the organization.

    Advice to Management

Please don't forget that the customer is the one who signs the paychecks for the company.
