    Best Place to Work

Current Employee - Part-Time Faculty in Livonia, MI

I have been working at Schoolcraft College part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great opportunity to develop new skills and work part of a team. Great people to work with. Good at building physical infrastructure and creating partnerships with Universities.

    Cons

Not many full time opportunities. Also, the culture needs to be one of more sharing and transparency between groups and not so much internal competition. Working in silos with only personal interest and gain ahead of what is best for the college is damaging for the people who work there and for the students attending.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in the awesome talent you already have. Get to know the talent that currently is working and tap into their amazing potential.

I have been working at Schoolcraft College part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The children I work with and my bosses are awesome! They are very approachable.

    Cons

The pay is terrible and I really, truly believe that the other Teachers Assistants and myself, should be getting paid more than minimum wage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please, Please Please allow the Teachers Assistants to get paid more than minimum wage!

I worked at Schoolcraft College part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Moving around most of the day, people and employees in the school are very entertaining. Always something to do. Much interaction throughout a day.

    Cons

Short hours, there was only part time available to me. System was a tad bit unorganized but nothing too horrible. Walking if you do not like it or are not able to walk long periods at a time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

All the interactions I had with management were satisfactory

Current Employee - Tutor, Peer Assisted Learning Program (T A ) in Livonia, MI

I have been working at Schoolcraft College as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

The friendships, accomplishments, and experiences you attain; the environment, and every single person there (volunteer/employee) are wonderful!

    Cons

Once students graduate, they are no longer eligible to be paid tutors/T.A.'s. No benefits are offered.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow students that have graduated return to be paid tutors/T.A., as they have so much to bring to the table. Offer benefits to those who work more than 20 hours a week, and plan to make a long-term commitment.
