Sad, drab, tedious, under-paid = massive attrition rate

Research Interviewer (Former Employee) Huntington, WV

ProsThe management there seemed to do their best with what little control they had.

Making your own schedule per week was quite nice, and initially the work felt rewarding to some extent. However--and it depends on the individual--there is a breaking point for how long this work takes to go from "interesting" to "creating mental illness."

Cons-Easily the most damaging aspect of how the company is for research interviewers is the few breaks that are received, which are extremely necessary for work this repetitive. Eventually you'll realize if you want to work there, and not go crazy, you have to stall the phone and create your own 10 second breaks every other call, or something along those lines.
-If you don't have thick skin, you'll quickly be unable to handle hostility from people receiving your calls.
-Scheduling yourself is nice, but quickly you'll realize that if you want a large amount of hours, you'll be working hard late-night shifts for very little pay, and few breaks.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide more breaks. Or pay better.

But you probably know these things already, and prefer the present model of business, which means I will never work there ever again.

figure it out as you go

Analyst (Current Employee) Silver Spring, MD

ProsInteresting work; nice people; decent benefits and annual bonuses; opportunities to travel. Flexible if you need to work unusual hours or occasionally work from home.

ConsNo formal training process at all - you need to figure everything out as you go and hope you have a patient supervisor who is willing to help. Does not pay very well. Very top-heavy - most upper management has been there for a very long time and is not leaving anytime soon.

Observations of company during my work experience

Research Associate (Current Employee) West Long Branch, NJ

ProsFlexible hours when available when not being cut

ConsHourly cuts unable to incorporate enough hours

Advice to Senior ManagementEliminate criminal element within hiring or contracting employees (as this interferes with workers productivity)They are disruptive and detracts our attention to the job.
Better monitoring of promotting supervisory staff, (smelling of "funny tobacco"on one specific supervisor)
Unsanitary working conditions(piling of of garbage at end of rows) Filthy vents , lack of ventilation, heating system, always too hot , these breeds everyone being sick constantly

    Research Company

Research Assistant (Current Employee) Fort Myers, FL

ProsMany nice people; some diversity of jobs, able to learn what others do, supervisors usually leave you alone, supervisors offer deserved praise vocally where many others hear it.

ConsOffice equipment is outdated, one wonders whether you will have all the proper equipment to do your job or if you're going to have to search out the equipment you need for each shift. Moldy environment. A lot of time is wasted on useless briefings. Company rules are not strictly enforced by supervisors and are sometimes even violated by the supervisors. Low pay ,nnbenbenefitsbeexcept ro

Advice to Senior ManagementGet into a new building with all updated equipment, with every station fully equipped. Get a place with a large enough parking area for the employees. Enforce company policies for everyone. Pay better, provide benefits for all. Provide more restrooms easily accessible to all.

Good for when you're in college, but there's a trade-off

    (Current Employee)

ProsYou can make your own schedule, so if you have a job during the day and/or want to work around a class schedule, you can. For what you are doing, you're paid well, and they do give raises.

ConsYou didn't always get the hours you signed up for, and sometimes if you were calling certain areas you would be sent home up to 3 hours early, which can really cut into your pay. In the beginning you get sent home more easily.
The Fort Myers building has mold. There are a couple of people who wear a mask while at work because of it. Work can be boring.

Advice to Senior ManagementSeriously, clean the place up.

Horrible work environment. No opportunity for advancement. Terrible supervisory staff. Boring Work.

    Analyst (Former Employee)

    ProsI get paid on time.

ConsPay is below average for the area for analyst positions. Benefits are a joke you get very few vacation/sick days, health insurance is garbage, and no hope for a retirement from this firm. The work is mainly mundane tasks or problematic jobs that senior staff pass to their peers or lower analysts. Abt offers training/professional development, but SRBI does not.

Advice to Senior ManagementBecome more like Abt. Also, managers should act like managers.
