    Wonderful people to work with;very family oriented. Everyone makes you feel comfortable when you're new to a branch.

    Cons

    The compensation could be better, and changes in the workplace should be relayed to the staff in a reasonable amount of time.

    I have been working at Scotiabank full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Good work life balance. Great clients to work with. Excellent peers and internal staff to work with. Really just enjoyable day in and day out.

    Cons

    Downsizing in the US. Company has no interest in the US and is fading away fast. Last two years have been spent worrying about when the company is pulling out of the US.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    It's time to stop repeating the bank is Canadian's most International Bank. Besides Canada and Mexico the bank is sporadically located.

    Pros

    Some of the individuals within the bank are extremely intelligent, and they give access to upper management. Similarly, they have international rotational opportunities.

    Cons

    Culture is extremely cutthroat in investment banking and their is no sense of teamwork. Virtually no access to upper management as was once praised.

    Pros

    - The work life balance is unreal
    -Relaxed environment

    Cons

    -Pay is definitely not competitive with the market, raises are joke
    -You notice people do not get promoted, lateral moves are very rare and management sometimes prevents these moves
    -Technology is horrible, systems are antiquated
    -Sometimes too relaxed an environment
    -Lack of cross training
    -Lots of office politics
    -Functions and departments keep getting move back to Canada

    Small close-knit friendly culture at the bank

    Not the smartest people in the industry
    Do not get the best deals

    Pay is below-market
    New York corporate banking is shutting down and layoffs have started
    the NYC office is controlled remotely by Bank HQ in Toronto
