I have been working at Scotiabank full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Friendly, Lots of opportunities, great place to work overall. It is a place that emanates Stability, very reliable. Management is concerned about each employee on a personal level.

    Cons

Low salary comparing with other Banks. To be underpaid is the only great problem I see at Scotiabank. besides that, all the other aspects are pretty positive,

    Advice to Management

Scotia needs to review their rates comparing with the market, after all, being a nice place to work is not enough sometimes. The company need s to be more competitive.

I worked at Scotiabank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Great learning opportunities (both credit/financial analytic and relationship development) - Get to meet people in different industries - Great team support

    Cons

    - Outdated technology (Late 90's) - Lack of communications from management - Compensation and benefits are lacking

    Advice to Management

    - More proactive communication from management. - Take ownership of employee's development. (It is a two way partnership, it is not 100% employee driven) - More formal training

    Pros

Very knowledgable workers. Really learned a lot working there as an intern. They were looking to hire full time from internship program so it created good opportunities.

    Cons

The hours were really long, and some times boring. I had to be there twelve hours a day just to get coffees sometimes. Coworkers were very well compensated though so it made sense why the intern would do it.

    Advice to Management

Keep up with the learning opportunities for young workers. Salary is great but future prospects is what students are looking for. Reach out on campus to inform the type of candidate your looking for about opportunities.
