    Cons

Since the founders have passed they seem o be selling and getting out of the business.

I have been working at Scott-McRae Group full-time

    Pros

The company decided to close all the dealerships on Sundays. It's nice to have a day off on the weekend to spend time with family.

    A no haggle sales environment.

    Cons

High number of sales staff offers you less opportunity to sell a car. This coupled with managers feeding "old dogs" tons of house deals really leaves you feeling discouraged. You have to be a member of the club to make real money.

The benefits are a joke. You have to pay over $3K out of pocket before your benefits kick in and then only at 75%.

Long work hours and no guaranteed paycheck.

No training whatsoever. You will be thrown to the wolves and left to your own devices to learn the computer systems, sales process and systems of the dealership. Nobody is interested in your success.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

House deals should be rotated among all sales staff. Or at least among sales staff with seniority or a certain length of service. Better training practices among managers. PTO time rather than Vacation time. Better benefits would go a long way. It is very expensive and for most employees very unaffordable.

    I worked at Scott-McRae Group

    Pros

It's a great place to work if your in a location that has work

    Cons

One month there's work two months later it's all gone if you're new it's hard to learn your job completely working like that

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Needs to stealthy check out how some your shops are being supervised when you're not around and let the employee come to the meetings you have when you visit then maybe you might find out why some of the work doesn't get out when schedule d

    Pros

Private company they do not have to deal with Public company issues. Family run. Active in the community. Room for growth. You can start at the bottom and work your way up to management.

    Cons

Company is currently not in a period of growth. Automotive and Finance are volatile industries.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A more diverse management group. Have people with different points of view contribute to the decision making.

I worked at Scott-McRae Group as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

The overall staff cohesiveness and team atmosphere is apparent. Most employees are happy together and get along well.

    Cons

The pay is lousy and then when there are opportunities for advancement and pay bonuses the managment finds a way around initiating the advancement or paying out the bonus.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Follow through with what you say to employees especially about something so sensitive as pay.

I have been working at Scott-McRae Group

    Pros

Easy work. A chimp could sell cars. Top writers can make good money. Average writers can make better money than most uneducated jobs.

    Cons

Negative environment. Constant stress from managers in fear for their jobs trickling down. Income is dependent on the mood and personality of the manager and that changes from day to day. Much worse is the managers come and go like the tide. They start off with good intentions then the pressure takes over.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Adapt to the new millennium and stop blaming your failures on everyone but yourselves. When a customer tells an employee they should go work somewhere else the failure is yours not the employees. Do something different from the top down. The customers are speaking loudly for change.
