I worked at Scott-McRae Group (More than a year)

    Pros

Bonus when it pays. And that is about it.

    Cons

There are not enough allowance of words to express the cons for this company. If you are not a suck up then you can forget about having any type of career here. They treat their employees like dirt. The ones that work their butts off get treated like scum. The ones that BS all day get treated like royalty. I would not recommend this company to anyone. The work culture is depressing. Many nights were spent crying and worrying about my job as most others did. The pressure they put you under is unreal and their expectations are not even obtainable.

    Advice to Management

Get new management. This whole place from the top down needs to be cleaned out if it wants any chance of succeeding at all. I'm not quite sure how they've made it this far.

  5. Dana Safety Supply is a stressful place to work, plagued by micromanagement and a lack of transparency

I have been working at Scott-McRae Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working in a fast paced environment, with like individuals.

    Cons

A lack of transparency by management, secret meetings behind closed doors, no desire to take company improvement suggestions. They tolerate fellow employee harassment and intimidation, a disagreement with management leads to getting on the "bad side" of management and employees will be continually monitored and watched until they either screw up and get fired or quit due to intense scrutiny and bullying by managers, favoritism of certain people who are not made accountable for their actions or mistakes, a $40 million dollar company that s regularly on credit hold by vendors because company hates to lose interest on accounts, management continually is changing the rules and pay plans. Definitely not a stable or secure place to work, no advancement. A place that you must be continually looking over your shoulder.....

    Advice to Management

Giving management advice is a waste of time, as they know it all and will let you know it.

I worked at Scott-McRae Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

They promote from within before looking out side most of the time. Good compensation package and benefits 401-K,profit sharing and hospitalization.

    Cons

Since the founders have passed they seem o be selling and getting out of the business.

I have been working at Scott-McRae Group full-time

    Pros

The company decided to close all the dealerships on Sundays. It's nice to have a day off on the weekend to spend time with family. A no haggle sales environment.

    Cons

High number of sales staff offers you less opportunity to sell a car. This coupled with managers feeding "old dogs" tons of house deals really leaves you feeling discouraged. You have to be a member of the club to make real money. The benefits are a joke. You have to pay over $3K out of pocket before your benefits kick in and then only at 75%. Long work hours and no guaranteed paycheck. No training whatsoever. You will be thrown to the wolves and left to your own devices to learn the computer systems, sales process and systems of the dealership. Nobody is interested in your success.

    Advice to Management

House deals should be rotated among all sales staff. Or at least among sales staff with seniority or a certain length of service. Better training practices among managers. PTO time rather than Vacation time. Better benefits would go a long way. It is very expensive and for most employees very unaffordable.

  8. Needs to be more honest with employees about work situation

    Pros

It's a great place to work if your in a location that has work

    Cons

One month there's work two months later it's all gone if you're new it's hard to learn your job completely working like that

    Advice to Management

Needs to stealthy check out how some your shops are being supervised when you're not around and let the employee come to the meetings you have when you visit then maybe you might find out why some of the work doesn't get out when schedule d

    Pros

Private company they do not have to deal with Public company issues. Family run. Active in the community. Room for growth. You can start at the bottom and work your way up to management.

    Cons

Company is currently not in a period of growth. Automotive and Finance are volatile industries.

    Advice to Management

A more diverse management group. Have people with different points of view contribute to the decision making.
