I have been working at Scotts Miracle-Gro
Pros – Benefits, salary, campus feel to Marysville, good retirement plan, company discounts
Cons – No training provided. Expected to start being productive on your first day when you are not even settled in the position. Management too busy and stressed with their own problems to assist. A lot of new staff and managers who do not know what they are doing
Advice to Senior Management – Get a new employee training program started instead of trying to find out what to do via fellow employees. Hire some middle management who can guide new employees

I have been working at Scotts Miracle-Gro
Pros – Great benefits package and unplanned rewards for job well done (example: early release and extra days off from the CEO).
Cons – There is constant reorganization in the company and extreme levels of turnover in the marketing organization in the past year. This is largely due to continually changing and unclear role of marketing in the regional strategy. Sr. Management also gets easily focused on small-impact, tactical issues rather than staying focused on big picture opportunities.
Advice to Senior Management – Pick big and important opportunities to focus on and make sure that they are a part of everyone's performance. Stop letting emotion kick in and think more rationally about the business.

I have been working at Scotts Miracle-Gro
Pros – Great benefits, flexible work schedule, great compensation, treated fairly
Cons – Too few associates for amount of work. Poor high management project organization. Reactive instead of proactive company. High workload.
Advice to Senior Management – Narrow down project lines so most of focus and energy can be placed on a few projects instead of minimum focus and energy on too many projects. We waste too much time working on things that end up being dropped from our portfolios. We need much better forecasting.

I worked at Scotts Miracle-Gro
Pros – Pay was good, and enjoyed the work. People were easy to get along with and managers treated you well. If they trusted you to do your job it was very easy and there was lots of freedom, if not you had someone breathing down your neck making sure things got done properly.
Cons – Lots of driving between stores and the hours are not always guaranteed. Working outside with soils and fertilizer is rough during a Houston summer but bearable.

I worked at Scotts Miracle-Gro
Pros – Mediocre paycheck, mediocre benefits, mediocre commissions for the trouble. Not a bad job for building experience in a "high-pressure" role. Co-workers are actually a lot of fun,
Cons – 60+ hour work week, no life, high pressure scripts, two months of mandatory unemployment every year, Chinese overtime (paid at about $5 an hour, not even sure how this is legal but apparently it is). Jump ship when you can, if you can sell here you can make twice as much somewhere else.
Advice to Senior Management – No point whatsoever in offering this... these guys stopped caring a long time ago, believe me it shows.

I have been working at Scotts Miracle-Gro
Pros – Best health and dental and overall benefits in the business.
Cons – Nobody allowed to stay long enough to reap the best benefits.
Inner circle members and anointed ones are the only ones who get the opportunity to make real commission.
Managers take the credit for all awards and accolades, and give none to the troops.
Advice to Senior Management – Pay your people what they deserve.
Quit telling them they have a career when they are shown the door just before being eligible for benefits.
Good salesmen do not necessarily make good managers. Pick managers and leaders to manage and lead.

I have been working at Scotts Miracle-Gro
Pros – You can make good money but only if your position isn't seasonal.
Good Pay,
Nice Branded Merch
Cons – if you are a merchandiser you are season and at the bottom of the totem pole

I worked at Scotts Miracle-Gro
Pros – Salary is good and it the company has a well known brand name.
Corporate office has a lot to offer (gym, gardening, etc)
Benefits are good
A lot of company holidays
Cons – Very political. A lot of no-body's at the leadership level.
Very aggressive work environment. Unrealistic sales growth expectations outlined year after year.
Company instantly begins laying off people after a year that they miss their goal
Everyone in the company thinks they are better than everyone else which leads to lack of collaboration
Poor management styles, especially in the remote offices
Advice to Senior Management – Start listening to those you manager and take their feedback to heart. They are the ones working for you.
