I have been working at Scotts Miracle-Gro full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent company that has treated me very well over the years. You need to be an independent and entrepenurial type to succeed. This is a lifestyle job, not a 9 to 5 punch in and punch out situation.

    Cons

None really, management responds quickly to market changes so there can be a lot of CHANGE, some may view this a a "con" but it is the reality of the business.

    Advice to Management

Get out in the field as much as possible as your time allows, and always foster an environment of integrity.

I worked at Scotts Miracle-Gro full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benifits, great experience. Awesome development opportunities for those who are motivated.

    Cons

Management is not in touch with the Field Sales Team. Some district managers are lazy and do nothing to help thier team.

    Advice to Management

Weed out the lazy dead weight middle managers and focus on what made the Scotts Co great, awesome products that work as advertised.

Work from home. Provide a car, cell phone, computer. Great management position

    Cons

Throughout my 7 years with Scotts the job continually got more and more difficult. Very little room to get promoted unless you want to move to Ohio.

    Advice to Management

    Don't micromanage

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Scotts Miracle-Gro full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great corporate campus with great benefits, including company park, pool, gym, doctors office on-site, pharmacy; etc. During Spring there are a lot of early release dates and celebrations.

    Cons

Consistent change... you have to be ok with constant change in direction / priorities, as this happens often. Although, with change comes opportunity, which could be good.. or not. Raises are poor.

    Advice to Management

Focus and stay on task; show employees that you care and that they make a difference. People want to work for people that care for them and have their best interest in mind.

    Cons

Wish there were more team building activities.

    Advice to Management

    More team building activities.
