I have been working at Sea Star Line full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great benefits, internal hiring program, the people are awesome, pay is fair, bonus program is very generous.

    Cons

Open office environment is new and no one likes it!
Seem to be outsourcing some jobs. They have stopped investing heavily in employee development.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The old L&D program is sorely missed

I have been working at Sea Star Line full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The freedom to do what needed to be done with a new start up company.

    Cons

Management was a little top heavy, however, they all understood the ocean shipping business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Most of the senior managers are now gone.

    Recommends
    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Sea Star Line full-time

    Pros

    -Good benefits

I enjoyed working here and left on my own terms. The people that work at the line level are great. I would do this job again after I retire and want something to get me out of the house.

    Cons

-Weird hours (ships don't stop moving)
-Lack of mobility due to external issues (economy)

Work is repetitive, mind numbing, and unchallenging.

Not really a con but an observation - almost all managers and senior management were of WASP descent. Kind of odd for a company that is deeply integrated with Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

    Recommends
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
