    Pros

Awesome people to work with here, fit in right away. Real, challenging projects to work on that teach you a ton. Great job connecting us with the other interns over the summer.

    Cons

People here can be busy! My mentor sometimes struggled to find time to work with me on things/include me on his projects ... but it didn't make me enjoy the internship any less.

    Pros

    1. Competitive pay and benefits for interns 2. Nice people to work with, they are really patient when training the interns 3. Fun activities and free parking, free gym membership 4. Good mentorship

    Cons

    1. Location, too much snow 2. Base pay is a little low for full times( Based on what I heard about), but the bonus program is really nice 3. Big company, too many layers and sometimes slow to respond

    Advice to Management

    1. Keep it up! 2. Make the base salary more attractive! 3. Cut the size of management if needed

    Pros

Many smart people work together on challenging projects. Most people have worked for Seagate at least a decade, but there is room for upward movement as people transfer internally or retire. The leaders give employees room to experiment and have a good work-life balance.

    Cons

Employee reorganizations happen often, are sudden, and can be accompanied by layoffs. The reorgs are top-down with little input from the bulk of employees. Some upper level managers seem ignorant to rising technological disruptions.

    Advice to Management

Share information freely with employees that concerns job security. Try to limit the number of meetings in the workplace to improve efficiency.

  6. Uncertainty for Contract Worker

    Pros

Higher pay than comparable job task. It'd be a steal for my coworker who was paid as engineer and work same as my job role, which is basically as a technician.

    Cons

No backup and pass of knowledge learning from professional in deep of the night 3rd shift, but even in the rest of the 12 hour long overlapping day hours there wasn't knowledge transfer process. The real problem being treated as a contract worker is that there was absolutely no transparency in stability of your current job. As employer likes, they renew your contract hooking you up to high pay but when they don't want you, not out of your work fault, they would ask you return your company entrance badge and clear up your office place, i. e.,to pack up and leave the company, in 5 minutes. It's an absolutely dehumanizing experience I ever experienced.

    Advice to Management

High technology doesn't mean sitting in high hill for a long while. Continuing this division of labor force between the hired and the temp. will only hurt productivity in the long run. At one moment the management seemed to be prioritizing a team project group. Another moment the company put the emphasis somewhere else but showed traces of unprofessional and rough transitions.

    Pros

Technical and academic advancement is highly valued here. Seagate has the best tuition program of any company in the area

    Cons

Of late, raises have diminished and been largely replaced with bonuses

    Advice to Management

Revamp the performance review system and tie bonuses and raises with performance.

    Pros

Pay was good and good ability to buy stock, my boss treated me very well and like I was a responsible worker

    Cons

Lay people off like they are garbage and treat them that way. I know someone who had been there 23 years and came in one morning with security at her desk. They told her she could not empty out her desk, she had to make an appointment - under their surveillance.
