Former Employee – worked at Sealy full-time for more than a year
Pros – Pays pretty good, employees are really hard workers
Cons – Quantity is more important than quality, constantly push and push for more no matter what pain it causes, every week a chiropractor comes in because of so many physical pain issues, higher up management need to take a few classes on how to treat people.
Advice to Senior Management – Change out management or make them take classes on how to treat people like human beings not animals, try being the best in quality and not just quantity!
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Sealy full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Fair salary, great benefits with lots of opportunities to promote from within. They assist with continued education which is great because you really need a bachelors degree to get anywhere within the company. They also offer adoption assistance. Wonderful opportunities to purchase beds.
Cons – Too many chiefs and not enough Indians. A lot of micro-management which can be frustrating. Sealy was a much better company to work for before they went public.

Former Employee – worked at Sealy full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Nice people to work with, great benefits on mattress discounts
Cons – Lack of funding for needed training to keep current with IT Technologies
Advice to Senior Management – Spend a little more time knowing what IT is doing. Focus on the outcome of projects and determine in advance the cost/benefit of projects. Support employee training, training is less expensive than trying to learn a new system without training and reduces errors.

Former Employee – worked at Sealy
Pros – The best reason to work at Sealy is the the people. Overall Sealy Inc is a great place to work.
Cons – One of the downsides of working at Sealy is the every day attire requirements. Business dress is a requirement for every day.
Advice to Senior Management – Feedback for leadership at Sealy is to provide more flexibility to employees in terms of business attire and hours worked.

Former Employee – worked at Sealy
Pros – Employees worked well together without management help.
Cons – Senior management destroyed company with complete disregard for middle mgr and below.
Advice to Senior Management – SVP and up.....Trust your employees. They are the backbone of the company not you.

Former Employee – worked at Sealy
Pros – Friendly work environment, very diverse workforce, fair promotions and pay reviews. Sealy is financially stable, large profit-margin, and offers a very generous employee discount on mattresses. Good communication from local leadership; progressive in developing visual workplace, 5-S, safety, and good union-management relations.
Cons – Terrible 12-14+ hour workdays...EVERY DAY. Was hired in and told "a couple of weeks during the summer" of extensive overtime! It might be okay to work here if you don't mind not having a life outside of work or are trying to escape a bad marriage!
Advice to Senior Management – Implement 3 shifts...or at least hire additional supervisors so you can retain them by not having them work 65+ hours a week with no additional compensation for the additional hours (comp time/overtime payments). Or at least be upfront with new hires and let them know of the working hours involved before they accept the job offer.
