    Pros

Instilled high ethics, confidentiality, and mentor-ship. Very respectful of all individuals, companies and candidates.

    Cons

Not an overnight process to really understand the business model, personal growth comes in segments if you are willing to stick to it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dedicate a trainer for the first 30-90 days.

Easy to secure new clients due to proven track record of nearly 30-years with extensive global network of industry executives and subject matter experts across numerous verticals and industry sectors.

Occasional work after hours in order to reach candidates after work or on weekends. Required to be a successful executive search firm in order to reach passive candidates to talk discretely about new job opportunities.

    Pros

Outstanding! Search Plus Texas provides a wonderful environment to stretch your career goals and build a business. The entire team is very supportive and focused on delivering superior results for our clients. The leadership team and staff constantly strive for the “gold medal” in executive search.

    Cons

The work is very dynamic … priorities and client requirements change, so you have to turn on a dime. It can be frustrating to individuals who do not like change.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have more company events to help blow off steam & bond the team.

I worked at Search Plus full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Although I was with the firm for less than a year due to personal / family issues, I felt that the opportunities were there for me to build my own 'business unit' within the boundaries set forth by the Partners. I was able to secure wonderful business relationships with both clients and candidates. I was equally impressed with the firm's business model and practices.

    Cons

This is not a job for the weak at heart. Executive recruiting is a tough but very satisfying career.

    Pros

Nestlé Coffee maker and free Parking

    Cons

Something fundamental is lacking here. I suspect: Lack of emotional security by the female owner and the lap dog mentality of the second partner In Austin, TX. I have never witnessed such 'daycare mentality' as I witnessed at Search Plus. Always these closed door meetings with attitude resulting. You feel as though you are a study subject in a Clinical Trial. Sad.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try running the company as your 'Pet Project'' but spare hiring unsuspecting and well intentioned recruiters. It really is a joke!

Poor, mercurial management; no career prospects

I worked at Search Plus full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Quiet office. Good work-life balance.

    Cons

Management will provide conflicting directions on projects and policies and then criticize employees severely when they seek clarification. If you enjoy being reprimanded for doing exactly what you were told to do, or for not doing what you were told not to do, this is the job for you. Ludicrous accusations, hysteria and paranoia run rampant here.

While middle management may express sympathy and agreement with you in these situations (which are frequent), expect them to remain silent in the presence of the CEO and then subsequently feign ignorance. This makes for a very political, unsupportive and negative atmosphere where sycophantism is valued above all else- certainly above recruiter talent.

The work itself is easy, but can be extremely mind-numbing. There is little opportunity for career or skills development and many, if not most, employees simply use the company as a waystation until they find something better.

Compensation policies regarding the researcher commission structure were changed numerous times within the span of the year, with earned commissions in the pipeline suddenly vanishing due to management's sudden inclinations. Reasonable requests to have policies written down are met with defensiveness if not outright rudeness by management. You are more likely to find out about policy changes from a side reference in a meeting than being directly informed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire people that are willing to challenge and grow the company, not yes-men. Treat employees humanely. Have written policies and guidelines that everyone can reference to avoid confusion.

    Pros

Clean and quiet environment with good snacks in the kitchen

    Cons

Management is condescending and rude to employees. Offers no training and lacks communication and then has unrealistic expectations from those same poor souls. They put employees through interviews with a psychologist prior to working for them and now it makes sense. This way they pick their prey carefully.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sell the company to someone who will treat people with respect and dignity.
