Current Employee – been working at Sears Canada
Pros – - employee discount for 25% in most departments
- bonus cash if cards are sold
- (mostly) great employees to work with
Cons – - politics all around
- horrible scheduling (i.e. scheduled for days you already asked off in advance)
--if you close nights, you're probably always going to be doing night shifts
--- older employees get better shift hours than the students
Advice to Senior Management – - more organization is needed from duties given to employees
- the extra 'task sheets' are helpless

Former Employee – worked at Sears Canada full-time for less than a year
Pros – A lot of associates will help newer team memebers
Cons – If you are not in the store "Click" then it is only a matter of time before they find an excuse to fire you.
No I mean NO support from HR, DIstrict Managers or VP's. All Lip Service.
Advice to Senior Management – To upper managment do not let your General Managers hire all their friends on the store managment team with no experience. They are running the ship to ground.Only a matter of time before you go the way of Eatons.I give you 2 years max before you become just a memory.

Former Employee – worked at Sears Canada as a contractor for less than a year
Pros – didn't find much, but only feeling of working for a large retailer, but end of the day the salary is low compared to others. You get 20% employee discount on every purchase.
Cons – you get 20% employee discounts but i find most of the items still will be costly than some of the other competitors. Once a seasonal employee, very hardly they take you in permanent positions.
Advice to Senior Management – consider seasonal employees to get them in for permananet

Current Employee – been working at Sears Canada full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Generally have a team spirit. Good location.
Cons – poor learning/growth potential, poor salary. I've been with the company 10+ years. Initially I had a lot of opportunity to move up in the company but since I joined another department 5 years ago after doing some upgrading - I've been left in the wind. The director for my area has lost a lot of great people because they maintain status quo for learning and salary - people are not supported to learn or upgrade, plus the director doesn't push to increase salary where warranted for a number of people.
Advice to Senior Management – foster growth of internal talent or potential talent versus always looking outside the company.
