Pros
Enjoy working with the customer is excellent.
Cons
The work load within the stores is so large it affects your ability to work with your employees and customers.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to the field. We are talented and just want to take care of customers. Not just do checklists.
Pros
people actually care about you. the hours are decent and you get to go home on time. no pressure working there
Cons
money is not enough. you can easily earn more working somewhere else if that was possible. required to work on some holidays
Advice to Senior Management
i would say increase the pay? more money always makes people happy and i could do with more money actually.
Pros
Great hours, great employees, and laid back work. The job that I am in the managers really don't come down on you so I am lucky
Cons
The managers are slow to respond when it comes to manager approvals or when the employees really do need manager help
Advice to Senior Management
Hire more managers so employees don't have to wait long on manager approvals so their can more sales and less ticked off customers
Pros
Very flexible with days off. Get to see some amazing scenery on the road and some of the best customers in the world. The actual working part of the job is great
Cons
Worst employee morale I have ever seen. Managers dont care. All they push for is sales. Even if it means harming the customer.
I havent been payed in 3 weeks and no one will accept responsibility for it. Or fix it. Employees have been there 10 years and no one on my crew has ever received a raise except a dime here or there. My managers are always in conference calls and can never be reached. Nobody cares about the employee. The health benefits are few and far between. NO vision offered and very poor dental. So much red tape too. You have to get 3 peoples permission just to order a part now. No one on my crew has had any factory training from Sears either.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on your customers. Take care of them and they will take care of you. Ride with your employees. Boost employee morale and your business will improve as well.
Pros
Big company, lots of benefits, top of the line equipment, big customer lists. A place for every person, every person in their place.
Cons
Upper management has sworn allegiance to metrics, and to the metrics shall everyone serve-even customers. Your work life is bound to the metrics.
Advice to Senior Management
Too bad about that, many customers resent metrics strongly and have taken their business elsewhere. Flexible and timely response to customers wins every time.
Pros
Ability to move up to management position.
Cons
The pay is minimum wage.
Advice to Senior Management
None.
Pros
just to have a job and to learn more about retail
Cons
not enough communication between managers and employees...you do tons of work and only get paid min. wage
Advice to Senior Management
do your job
Pros
Pay checks don't bounce. Stores provide good environment. Good service support. Training is good. Good class of customers. Usually reasonable hours open.
Cons
Too much push to sell protection agreements to people who don't need them.. Lack of concern for customer satisfaction. Too much filter down management.
Advice to Senior Management
Try to get back to customer satisfaction and give store people more latitude.Stop deleting tool items so that old standby items continue.
Pros
You can control your schedule. They do come to your help when it comes to that.
The marketing team is competitive when it comes to the prices of merchandise.
Cons
At times it seems that the upper management doesn't care about making money.
The computer software is outdated and more benefits should be given to the customers.
Advice to Senior Management
You need to focus on newer generations to purchase there instead on relying on the old.
Change the companies "facade" it is too mild and uninteresting.
Pros
If you have some time in between the job there is a possibility to make some good money if you're in the right department
Cons
SOOOOOO Boring and the training you get at the register in the clothing department which you will have to do. Doesn't help much when the setup is different in the Electronics and Appliance Department
Advice to Senior Management
Train your employees in the department they are going to first then expand on that. You leave your employees in a bind when you do it the other way around.
