Pros
Good, safe environment. Treated well by superiors. Slow paced (if that's what you are looking for). Similar compensations to that offered by other competing retailers.
Cons
You aren't encouraged to progress/grow. Very little mentoring. No encouragement. Very slow and repetitive pace. Ok if you are just looking for part time work, not a place to grow your career.
Pros
Visible, exciting, challenging project work, using current technologies.
Cons
Lots of pathological politics, disenfranchised workers, no clear business strategy
Advice to Senior Management
Start running Sears as a business... strategy, initiatives, portfolios, programs, projects, all tied to priorities within a clear and coherent vision. Stop the thrashing.
Pros
Good team, Management is good. New technologies are being tested and implemented constantly. There is a lot of freedom given by management in using new technologies.
Cons
Benefits are not competitive to the present market, Need more changes. 401K plan has to be restored, bonuses should be restored.
Advice to Senior Management
Employees have lot of potential in making the company successful, if the employees morale is boosted they can do miracles. Sears can be number one in couple years
Pros
Great hourly rate and friendly coworkers. The pay was excellent for hourly associates and job growth was fairly neutral in context .
Cons
There were barely any cons. There should be more activities and a better lunch break with extended pay periods and days off.
Advice to Senior Management
The leadership is great and everyone is pretty friendly in context and relation to the gratitude and advancement of the positions.
Pros
Commission based- so you have control over how much money you make
Cons
How much money you make is also dependent on how the market is
Advice to Senior Management
Market better so that there is an increase in business and sales.
Pros
Great hours during holiday time and season
Cons
selling credit card apps was not a good idea
Advice to Senior Management
better time managment
Pros
Great benefits package. Fabulous initial and ongoing training. Appreciated the morning meetings with all store department staff for business insight and update. It fostered wonderful coworker comaraderie.
Cons
Ratio of customer traffic to sales force impossible to manage. Management grossly overhired and overscheduled commission sales force. Provided great floor coverage for customers... but welfare pay for us.
Advice to Senior Management
Make it against store policy to allow commission sales force to be sent to cover non commissioned departments when they are short staffed and not offer equal compensation.
Pros
-Better than being unemployed.
-Get to talk to customers and provide some form of entertainment while working.
-Other hourly associates are nice
Cons
-Managers overwork you for such little pay.
-Managers keep you after your scheduled shift is supposed to end and make you work until they feel like dismissing you.
-Some managers get upset and don't let you take a 15 minute break even if you work an 8 hour shift.
-Managers don't care about your personal life and other responsibilities you have outside of work.
-Managers want you to work when you are not scheduled to work
-Managers ask you at the last minute (about 10) to stay a few extra hours.
-Managers are so stuck up and full of themselves, simply because they are managers at Sears and have "authority"
Advice to Senior Management
Get people that are actually qualified and trained to lead and manage workers and a store.
Pros
Pay was good
Set your own schedule
Ability to maximize your profits
Cons
Horrible Management
Had to suck up to make it up the corporate ladder
Couldn't really take days off work
Drama filled environment
Advice to Senior Management
Hire competent management, respect employees, and understand HR duties
Pros
Lots of time off if you plan in advanced
Cons
no 401K math within last 4 years
Advice to Senior Management
need a cost of living wage
