Advice to Senior Management
Nothing
Pros
strong credit card and fiancing programs
Cons
lack of inventory in seasonal merchandise
Advice to Senior Management
need more staff
Pros
good for entry level experience, pays for accounting designation, lot's of others doing accounting designation so there is peer support to help bounce ideas off of for assignments
Cons
very low morale, no sense of team, no promotions, benefits were good until 2010 when they changed the healthy plan and vacation time.
Advice to Senior Management
Employees can be a key asset. Do something to retain them so you stop wasting so much time and money on hiring and training. Happy employees leads to better efficiency so give that some thought before you keep "restructuring."
Pros
You get an employee discount for different type of merchandise, you get to learn on different businesses.
Cons
Management is not the best in the world, there's this culture in the company where everything has to be rushed, your recommandations will not necessarily take into consideration since the decisions have already been made, there are differences in salaries you wouldn't believe and HR is just...inexistant!
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employees, respect their opinion, communicate more about the overall strategy, and praise your employees more
Pros
Its alright place to work at, the jobs are pretty relaxing depending on wht you do, but no morale overall.
Cons
The pay range is on the low side, job descriptions are horrible but the job itself is not hard. It is mainly the pay which is horrible.
Advice to Senior Management
Please try to pay a little higher or do something to motivate the employees. Atleast give them a bonus or something
Pros
Friendly casual work environment. Meet people from many diverse background. compensation is fair with rest of industry. Central location make it easy to get to.
Cons
Offices are generally dark. Not a lot of windows. Lack of space and crowded. Information systems are old and slow.
Advice to Senior Management
Make the organization flatter. Less middle management and greater cooporation between management and workers. Greater communication between associates on the floor and buyers and marketing team.
Pros
Good location. Flexible hour. If you have good relationship with your boss you have no need to work much, have good opportunities, lots of training courses each year.
Cons
poor management, opportunities will be given to the one with good relationship. If you have no connection within the management you will be difficult to get anything such as training, salary increase...etc.
Advice to Senior Management
lower the authority of managers. review the daily operation within teams.
Pros
Several years ago I could have mentioned many things, but now it's hard to think of anything positive to say about sears Canada.
Cons
Management at Sears Canada is horrible. Morale is at an all time low, but they don't seem to notice or care. Benefits are disappearing, and hours are increasing.
Advice to Senior Management
Rethink your management hiring strategy.
Pros
At least there is some Flexability pertaining to your hours of work.
Cons
You seldom get a raise and if you do its insulting. Benfits are awful, pay rate when compared to other companies are grossly under par. Management at all levels are incredibly dumb and incompentant.
Advice to Senior Management
They do not deserve to be the position they are in and it is clear by their lack of decision making.
