I have been working at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (less than a year)

    Pros

Work associated with prolonging the lives of those with cancer.

    Cons

Horrible communicators, work goals unclear until you've not reached them.
People who "fail up' are given promotions and titles.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If your middle manager can't 'manage', move them elsewhere. Your admin is doing all their work for them.

Only the patients make it worthwhile.... not the management.

I worked at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The patients are worth the hard work, the overtime, the difficulty.

    Cons

Working at SCCA, I often had to flip head over heels to ensure that patients didn't see the disorganization, the confusion, and the delays behind the scenes. I felt like I had to constantly make excuses to protect the image of SCCA. Late lab results, appointment delays, lack of enough employees, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give your employees feedback. Promote people who deserve it. Demote people who deserve it.

I have been working at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

nice buildings, good health care benefits, close to Lake Union, sterile environment, close to downtown, Amazon

    Cons

What the leadership says and does are very different things. Lots of rhetoric about excellent, patient centered care but very little effort into attempting to create a positive patient experience through organization, communication, signage, or support materials. The doctors are excellent so patients put up with the complete lack of coordination and compassion in the delivery "system."

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are much easier ways to make money. Why don't you choose work that doesn't negatively impact vulnerable patients?

I have been working at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance

    Pros

Great purpose, mission, doctors, nurses, and support staff. Great benefits for this day and age. Fun, convenient location. Nice offices. Lots of support staff. Sort of like a 1950's organization.

    Cons

Lousy leadership. Management seems to be typical of a sleazy for-profit business rather than a mission-driven not-for -profit. Lots of expensive suits and powerpoint presentations. Legions of high priced consultants squat for multi-year stints yet there are no resources for staff development or advancement. Very few sincere discussions about improving the patient experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I don't know where to start. You might find Walmart more in tune with your values.

    Pros

This place is a great place to work for especially downtown Seattle. The company is a great company, great work and life balance, amazing benefits and the people who work there are sweet and helpful! Great place to grow!

    Cons

The management needs a little of work, sometimes management lack the support role. It would be nice if managers got out of their office more often to be engaged with their staffs and patients.
