Pros
The best reason for me was convenience. It is located right downtown Everett. And when I started there, the starting wage wasnt bad, which was $10 an hour but that was a few years ago. But I dont have high hopes about the starting wage being much higher than that now. There are benefits for full time employees and unlike a lot of other companies out there, you actually get an hour lunch with (2) 15 minute breaks. And since I was a student at the time, I could just come in wearing jeans; no dress code!
Cons
The upper management is out of touch with its employees. The Manager and the HR Manager are one sided. Neither one of them actually have any experience in the field they are in. The HR Manager is very unprofessional, before her HR position here, she was an insurance agent. How she got into this position here, I am not quite sure. I never felt comfortable talking with her about anything. And there was no such thing as HR confidentiality, because one minute I would tell the HR something and shortly after, my own boss would be talking to me about it. It is a very small company so you can't really expect to grow professionally or financially.
Advice to Senior Management
If they want people to come into the company and remain long term employees, they need to think about hiring an HR manager that actually has experience in human resources. I think it would be best, if they had sit downs with the employees and ask them how they actually feel about their managers. The management is quite poor and unfair. There is definitely a lot of favoritism going on between the managers and HR and I think that Senior Management, who are on the 3rd floor, should know what is really going on, on the 2nd floor.
