Pros
Free time to work on home work or play my guitar while on the job.
Good for a criminal law degree if your trying to become a cop but better to go through the military than here.
If ex military you will start off with a higher pay than the rest and move up quickly in the company, especially if you are a former marine.
Cons
No advancement unless you have human relations degree to work in HQ or Corporate.
No real advancement for non military.
Could use better wages and balances wages throughout accounts for the most mental/physical demanding jobs.
Pros
You have a lifetime job. Good for people that are already retired.
Cons
No promotions within unless you want to be a Lt or Captain. Almost minimun wage might as well be minimun wage. Management never gets in contact with its employees to see if everything is alright. No benefits unless you pay for them.
Advice to Senior Management
Take care of your employees and promote from within and i dont mean from within managements but from the guards as well.
Pros
Nice uniforms that don't need to be tailored to fit properly.
Cons
They do not listen to their workers problems with sites. They hire alot of back stabbing weasels. If your disabled or have health issues they don't give a dam. They will lie to you about reasons why you were taken from a site. They have very few fill ins when needed. Their pay is terrible. There is no room for advancement.
Advice to Senior Management
Sell your company to one that has a heart.
Pros
- large company so you can work at many different locations
- there's most often work, if you want to work a lot you can
- if you get sick there are people who can step in for you
Cons
- bad communication and outdated equipment
- low wages
- few benefits
- long physically demanding shifts due to nonstop walking or sitting
- hard to get a pay raise
Advice to Senior Management
Give the employees more ergonomic chairs and work places or a sponsored gym membership instead of ONLY sponsoring (the receptionists) after they get aching backs etc from their monotonous work.
Pros
free uniforms
free uniforms and,
free uniforms
Cons
very low pay
no (and i mean no) contact from managment
If you fall ill be prepared to just about lose your job because they dont think people actually do get ill!
Advice to Senior Management
this company needs to interact with gaurds more often, promote from within, and have better training for new gaurds, you will never hear from managment about any promotions or open job postings at other sites.Bottom line! my experiance with this company has'nt been that great. I would advise people to apply with better company's and apply to securitas as a last resort.
Pros
They gave me the money they promised. Far as I can go.
Cons
Asked to do work off the lock without pay. Threatened to be fired on a regular basis.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat your employees like they are people doing a job. Not like they are lower life forms trying to screw you out of something or deceive you.
Pros
Very good co-workers, at least most of them
A good balance between work life and your life outside the company
Cons
Virtually zero opportunity to advance
Not too much feedback from management regarding your work
Sort of a top-down attitude (management - workers)
Rules enforced that does not make sense
Does not trust employees that much
Quite low salary
No real benefits at all
Advice to Senior Management
Take more care of your personnel: they are your largest asset by far, and a raise in salary and benefits would not be that misguided either.
Pros
Do a good job and you'll have a job.
Many people do not enjoy being security guards/officers so there's a place for advancement when it comes.
Patrolling a mall is better than a sit down site.
Cons
Have not had problems with site's supervisors or people on the sites, this is all referring to Securitas management.
Micromanaging - people that patrol the site knows exactly what the client wants. They will do what they think the client wants.
Childish - you get terminated from site, they'll tell you to call the Branch Manager. If the Branch Manager is very busy, they are not responsible enough to pass on the responsibility to their human resources. Everyone else will give you the "I don't know" game.
College - if you are working at a site where there is moderate amount of turnover, be expected to sacrifice school for the job.
Cheap - if you do the job to the best of your abilities and go above and beyond, be expected to not have any rewards with company.
People treatment - there has been false claims made by a client, people have been terminated and Securitas will leave you to dry. They will do whatever it takes to keep their contract, as far as the person, you're worth nothing.
Questionable management decisions - if the client tells the Branch Manager that they do not want any overtime, the Branch Manager should tell their people to hire more people and send them to the site. Instead, tells the site supervisors to not have overtime when they are short handed. Then with the site that I was at, if we needed people, management ignores you. If other site needs people, they'll take people away from the site which causes the short handedness and overtime.
Advice to Senior Management
If you are afraid of people going crazy because of termination from site. Knock off the childish games and have Police presence then.
Pros
I liked working for the the company that Securitas had sent me to work at.
Cons
Not enough full-time, local positions avail. Management makes up their own rules to abide by a good example of this is: reguarding facial hair..example being..handbook says No handlebars(sideburns) yet management walks around with them and hands out pink slips to their employers for having a twelve o'clock shadow. Another one is: Uniform that Securitas gives out for employee to wear is not sized properly for employer and yet again another pink slipped issued for uniform not fitting right. They stress over the little things, the unimportant things and end up losing good, hardworking, dedicated people. Management i feel misuse and abuse their authority towards their workers and therefore giving the company a bad name. I have never been treated with such little respect and downgraded like i have with this company. As i am reading other comments made by people, I see i am not the only one who feels this way. Higher management should read these comments and start changing their ways because people are starting to really lose respect for the Securitas Company But, again, if higher management is anything like the management that i worked with...alll hope is gone.
Advice to Senior Management
Read all comments and make some changes starting with management because the people who you are trusting your company with are giving your company a bad name.
Pros
Uniform is free. people there seem alright
Cons
It will cost you 150.00 dollars to get your non firearm security guard license.
You will get very little info regarding your assignments so don't expect to be told you are going to working outside all night or day cause they won't tell you so you will be outside for 8 hours on your freezing feet.
No one knows what is going on there.
you make 9plus an hour but you will have to drive up to and maybe more then 30 miles for your assignments.
insurance covers 1000.00$ a year then your on your own.
Advice to Senior Management
pay more. better inform employees about their sites
