I have been working at Securitas part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The orientation and initial shift manager meet-up is promising. If you are customer orientated type of guard, working in high-end environment is best. You'll reassure the client that somebody is staying vilgilant, and not sleeping on the job, and you deter negative situations by being present. Upper management recognizes your work ethic in the higher-end client accounts.

    Cons

Down the ranks on big accounts things get a little frustrating. Your daily log is very important. Don't listen to 'fellow' guards who do not take their assignment seriously. In the end a good work ethic is appreciated and the client will see it, even if your immediate lead does not. There are slow gigs- but the reward is excellence. Do your job, and let no one hinder you with their laziness.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clean house on operations for your large important clients. Recruit officers who represent the Securitas tagline/mission. There are some great leads and there are a few leads who tell you not to take your assignment seriously, repeatedly... Then they want you to do their job. Very unfortunate. Also, revisit the importance of bearing. Usually associated with stillness- should be translated into the language used by the guards. You don't have to worry about harassment if the guards presented respectable language at the work site. After orientation, I entered into a "locker room" work environment. Damaging my confidence in my fellow guards. The excellence I joined seems to be located at HQ, smaller more publicly vital assignments, and not in the barbarian horde supposedly representing the company at a major account. If I ever rise in the ranks, there will be changes. Securitas is an amazing company and it's breaking my confidence to see people not bringing excellence to their job.

This company is competitively priced when it bids jobs but pays what appear to be the low side of average salary ranges

I have been working at Securitas full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

They are administratively amply staffed in the office and provide adequate number of uniforms. To advance you have to work as part of a larger client account. Supervision is adequate, better on the larger accounts; leadership per se depends on local individual district manager and in larger accounts the site manager. Benefits are offered but limited and below average coverage's.

    Cons

Benefits are offered but limited and below average coverage's. Promotions and opportunity are few and far between.
Training is almost always on line and requires the District Managers approval.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Training should be better in that it should be more readily available and encouraged. There are no actual "perks".
Corporate literature and marketing approach isn't what it's hyped up to be; it's more image advertising that reality, re: actually practiced.

    Pros

None.absolutey none. zero, Nada zip zilch.

    Cons

Supervisor does whatever and whenever they want. That includes taking time off and switching days at the spur of the moment. Denying sick days to workers and forcing them to work.

Senior Management is clueless on what to do and frankly doesn't care. Security Officers aren't anything but bodies to the company.. Nothing more nothing less. Avoid this company at all costs.

Quit and hope someone competent takes over.

I have been working at Securitas

    Pros

Good pay for the work done. No problem working military drill time.

    Cons

Poor communication from the top. Felt like, in no way did the company want to take care of us or have our back in any way, even after years of service. Don't feel ability to trust.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If a position is on it's way out, end of contract, and there are other opening at other sites, it would be nice to at least mention those positions to good employees, if not offer to transfer. This should also cut HR costs.

I have been working at Securitas as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

World wide organization, Transfer opportunity ( at employee's expense ) some high paying sites, some good benefits, good uniforms supply, schedule flexibility, one of the top security companies in the industry

    Cons

Poor branch manager selection ( some ) Job security issues, dishonesty and poor communication with staff in regards to job security, size of company, employees are treated at a number due to the size of the company in the US

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please be sure to provide branch managers who are sincerely interested in the officers working they're assigned sites. Branch Managers need to be open to communicate the moment a client site has decided to discontinue a contract, don't leave your dedicated, committed employees in the dark on such decisions and then neglect to provide other opportunities with in the company, it will go against you when other potentially great employees considering employment with Securitas inquiry to working with the company. You can be sure to receive a not so favorable review from former or current employees and believe it or not, bad reviews can make or break the integrity of a company.
