Pros
their advance online training is the most amazing I have ever experienced in my entire career with Securitas and no where else.
Cons
I think Securitas Management should look for ways to screen their guards working at sites without supervisors and find ways to better those guards.
Advice to Senior Management
Securitas Management could maybe offer some ideas to guards on how to acquire about helping to get new contracts for the company
Pros
nice uniforms, supply you with as much work as posible, paychecks on time & usually correct, personel in office usually pleasent to get along with,
Cons
insuance not afordable, management not aware enough of witch employees are better, not enough driving or mileage compensation, not enough one on one comunicatoin, average pay not great..
Advice to Senior Management
take more interest in individual employees, be more aware of who is doing a better job on each site, provid more afordable insurence, and raise pay scale by about 20%...
Pros
many locations in USA, so great to relocate to area of interest
Cons
no chance to grow. peple get promoted with out merit
Advice to Senior Management
promote based on merit. and work hard on rewarding good contributors
Pros
You dont work hard. Its not a bad job if your are retired and are receiving a pension or have benefits from your retirement plan.
Cons
No benefits, if you want benefits you have to give a nice peace of your check, Dont get paid much almost nothing less than 10.00 dollars and hour. Any complaints and management doesnt do anything about them. If you do anything wrong like fall asleep on the job all they do if move you to another site.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay more money to your employees and they would do what they would have to do. Stop being so cheap with the people that help you because the guards are the face of the company not management. Nobody ever sees any management around and account managers are a waist of time some of them.
Pros
Relatively low stress levels, easy job requirements, great client transportation options, decent benefit offerings (client specific), does not require a brain.
Cons
Remember how I said doesn't require a brain? Yeah, some people seemingly get hired on just to fill a spot, without any thought given to the impact the individual may have upon client impression.
Advice to Senior Management
Give some growth potential, perform performance reviews more often (with actual raises), having an automatic pay increase (for at least cost of living increases), allow some time off to carry over for us non-salaried workers.
Pros
It's a job that pays more than minimum wage.
Cons
The benefits are too expensive, no retirement plan, no raises, no promotional ranking, no promotions for anyone not former military or law enforcement regardless of experience, all time off is given through vacation time; not sick time, no performance reviews, no proper on-the-job training, and management has poor training on how to manage and treat their employees.
Advice to Senior Management
If the company offered incentives that were comparable to other companies, then the revolving door to employment would actually slow down and people would stay. Even a raise of 25 cents per hour every year on our anniversary would be appreciated. Promotional ranking, something. Give us a reason to stay!
Pros
Higher paying position for this type of work in the area.
Cons
Little chance for advancement within the company
Advice to Senior Management
Provide more feedback for employees
Pros
the interaction with guests is rewarding
It's a nice postion to have on a resume.
Cons
Management is all ex correctional officers and treat you like their prisoners. The work environment suffers as a result, everyone is worried about being fired everyday and are constantly worried and angry. All policies are written as a reason to fire someone and the managers will not assist you or give you any advice they will only threaten to give you warnings. Due to all the firings the place is a revolving door of employees and who you work with will change weekly.
The hours fluctuate daily and it's impossible to know when you'll be able to leave everyday. If the game does get rained out you will not be payed after the cancellation. Management will call you in for special shifts with only a days notice and you cannot say no. Even though the job is part time you will not be able to work any other job due to the hours fluctuating. You are not allowed to miss shifts for any reason and even with a doctors note or proof of a death in the family you may be fired.
The uniform policy is very strict and you can be sent home at any time if they decide your not up to snuff. You will need to purchase items for your uniform out of your own pocket and due to only being issued 2 sets of pants and shirts you will need to do laundry often due to the nature of the job. your hair is checked and cannot be an unnatural color and the correct style. men cannot wear any jewelry besides a wedding ring. females cannot have fake nails and may only have 1 set of earrings. If you have arm tattoos you must wear your jacket or long sleeve shirt all summer. There are no sunglasses allowed even if you work in the sun for 10 hours. Shoes must be shined daily and pants must be ironed with a crease and sharp.
When you report to the stadium you are checked and go through the same security that guests go through, so you can only have a small bag and no items against the policy even if you work there and wont use them. If you bring food it is inspected and will be handled by all the senior staff. it is not unusual to have stuff go missing from your lunch bag. If you do get lucky and are assigned a locker to be able to bring a change of clothes, the lockers assigned to you are not secure the lockers are assigned to more than one person and things do go missing. Once you enter the stadium you cannot leave for any reason, you must take your break with hundreds of employees. your 30 minute break starts when you leave you assigned spot in the building so its common to only get 10 minutes in the break room. There is also a no smoking policy for your entire shift as well.
When you do start your job you will notice that although their are plenty of employees you will be constantly in need of help because most employees don't actually have to work. from the supervisors just walking around looking for someone to fire to the 5 people who work in the break room most people don't actually do security. You are not given a portable radio so if you need help you better hope there's someone near you with a radio because your supervisor will be no where to be found. It is not unusual for guard to be assaulted by guests and not get assistance. Once on shift you cannot use the bathroom or leave for any reason, I got the worst sunburn of my life from this gig because I was not allowed to reapply sunscreen. Although there are strict rules you will see management and senior staff violating them constantly, from leaving the stadium to sleeping in stairways during the shift. Most senior managers have dirty secrets like letting in guests on the side for cash or harassing female employees. You will grown to hate the managers in cheap suits while you stand in the heat for 10 hours.
Its is a union shop but besides paying your dues you will not hear anything from them. You are not given any contact information for them and it's clear they don't care about the working conditions
AVOID THIS PLACE!
Advice to Senior Management
Fire every manager in this toxic place.
Pros
You get a chance to meet a lot of new people. The former vacation pay policy was alright and always knowing what you would wear to work.
Cons
The pay at some sites was awful. They lose a lot of good contracts, then your just booted out with out a back up spot. You can go from a sergeant to a nobody (which is what you are if your not a supervisor) at the drop of a dime. They don't care about accommodating medical conditions. You are very replaceable no matter how many years you put in with the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to start caring and listening to the non supervisory employees instead of just acting like our opinions don't matter.
Pros
Great benefits package and experience.
Cons
No opportunity for advancement whatsoever.
