POOR MANAGEMENT, LACK OF REGARD FOR EMPLOYEES, MINIMAL PAY

    Pros

It is contract security so your pay rate depends on where they place you. I started off at 10/hr, the more experienced employees said that was the highest pay rate they had seen for a new hire. That was the highest paying job I could find since moving to Orlando so I guess that's a pro, but its really not much for security work.

    Cons

Training: Sit with another guard for two days. Promotions: I did not meet anyone in my year of work that was ever promoted. Leadership: The branch manager would drive around every two weeks or so telling you everything you needed to improve on. Personally management is the biggest con, in my situation, without warning I received a call the day after Christmas, my manager said my Guard post was not necessary anymore and it would be shut down next week. When asked about a new position he said I would need to call him daily to find out where I was going to work, they called this being a "Floater". I decided I would start searching for a new job and wait to see if they would call me. Two weeks passed I did not hear from anyone, so I dropped off my uniform, the Senior manager tried to offer me a position with odd hours and less pay, I turned it down and took another job and I am glad I did.

I worked at Securitas Security Services USA full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

there is a large variety of sites to work at doing different things so you might not get as bored as you would with some jobs

    Cons

bad pay, compensation was way less than other security companies I have worked for. bad hours, if you say you're willing to help out and work the night shift you'll get stuck on it a lot. overworked, you are given a lot of shifts where you'll work a swing shift, get off at 10pm, and have to be back in for a morning shift at 6am the next day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set better schedules, pay to match other security companies instead of just undercutting all of the contracts and paying your employees less. give more of an incentive to apply for OIC positions.

    Pros

The best experience working for this company is that is a very friendly environment and also very professional. Even though though it has its up and downs.
It given me the opportunity to earn my leaving. It's not something I wanna go do for the rest of my life.

    Cons

In this company there is o lot of favoritism that I wish it didn't exist. If it wasn't for this , this company would be the best experience working with. Another thing I don't like is that the newest member of the crew get to work work work. More than that veterans. It shouldn't be this way. Veterans should set the example all the time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should motivate hard workers and reward their efforts for often so we don't loose interest. To continue to do a good job.

    Pros

Coworkers are nice, training is easy, hours are flexible, actually licensed guards. You can call off any day you want and for some reason it's always ok with them.

    Cons

Pay, no chance for advancement, and work load. Don't get me wrong it's not hard work but sometimes things happen that are not worth the wage. I'm supposed to lunge at somebody that's bleeding with mersa and aids for $11 an hour???

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give freaking raises or incentive.. Seriously. You'll probably keep guards that way.

    Work with good people.
    Room to move up.
Opportunity to work at different locations.
    Not a physical demanding job.

    Cons

Dealing with the reputation of working security.
    Sometimes work long hours.
Forced overtime if someone calls off.
Standing for the duration of your shift, depending on where you are stationed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Listen to your employees suggestions.
Help to make security be more of a respected job, by staying on top of all your employees, making sure attire is neat and clean, and everyone is active and alert.

    Pros

Company values encourage personal growth. They do provide the tools for success but you have to be on their butts about it or you won't be noticed.

    Cons

The pay isn't fit as they will more than likely ask you to perform duties not listed in your contract or SOP. Leadership lacks motivation. There is no chain of command.
