Current Employee – been working at Security Benefit Group
Pros – Management is supportive of personal development and innovation. Realignment of Senior Executive leadership towards more organic growth and development of niche opportunities is very positive. Sale of company to private investment keeps the short term profit mentality out of the picture and allows tghe company capital to grow, should result in growth opportunities for associates.
Cons – Need centralized control to insure growth opportunities are maximized. Growth needs to be focused not a shotgun approach that will waste resources.
Advice to Senior Management – HF is in a good role as the stabilizing leader in the short term - Need someone with vision and some iron in their pants to control the line of business heads and set some realistic growth goals.

Current Employee – been working at Security Benefit Group
Pros – Old company in a small community, with good history. Good pay and benefits for region. Front line and mid level managment do a good job. Leader in industry. Great leverage of technology for industry.
Cons – C level managment questionable. Current financial troubles likley to cause the lose of key talent. Long road before reasonable raises and bonus are available.
Advice to Senior Management – Hang in there, learn from current mistakes. Being a conservative company is not a sin. There is nothing wrong with controlled organic growth. Your key talent is your strategic atvantage, recognize and take care of them.

Current Employee – been working at Security Benefit Group
Pros – Small town, nice mid-western people. Security Benefit values strong individual contributors as well as solid leadership skills. Pay is average for industry, but, area has low cost of living, allowing money to go a bit further. Fairly technology driven for a financial services company, most of IT is seen as a resource. Within the company, there are pockets of very bright associates, who add significant value to the business.
Cons – Security Benefit is a typical smaller company with limited promotion opportunities. We are tightly tied to equities markets, so frequently individual performance is over shadowed by market performance. Budget is also tied to market conditions, but, frequently the amount of work is not.
Advice to Senior Management – Continue to value associates. Take a long term approach to financial success.
