Growing Pains, Constant state of flux - difficult to keep track of the daily changes in procedure

Leave of Absence Coordinator (Former Employee)
    Coralville, IA

ProsGood benefits, nice facility, attempts to make office "fun", met nice people

ConsHeavy workload, understaffed, overtime expected and no breaks, Audits subjective, constantly felt like you are doing something wrong, or not fast enough, forced to take calls for which there was no training, high turnover due to stressful work environment

Advice to Senior ManagementAdditional staffing needed to allow people to perform the job they were hired to do. Training needed for dealing with difficult customer calls. Little toys and candy not much of a reward.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Sink or Swim

    Claims Representative (Former Employee)
    King of Prussia, PA

ProsGood salary & benefits -- Since it's a big company, there are opportunities for advancement. Salary increases and bonuses were performance driven.

ConsThe company is very corporate and runs like a mill with new adjusters coming in and out. The work is overwhelming because you rarely keep the same accounts. You have to start fresh with new accounts every few months. Instead of hiring additional adjusters, you get stuck with some of the work the other adjusters leave behind. You are constantly on the phone. There has to be a better system for a more efficient workload.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed better trained staff

Lots of opportunities all over the country and in different departments!

    Claim Representative (Current Employee)
    Los Angeles, CA

ProsPlenty of vacation time and employee benefits. Plenty of advancement opportunity if you are willing to relocate. Opportunities for nurses, lawyers, clerical staff, management, financial advisors, recruiters, examiners...

ConsHard to use the vacation time due to workload and very limited raises. Not enough employees to handle the work load sometimes.

Advice to Senior ManagementShare some of that wealth that the little people have earned for the company! Please increase the ratio of clerical to adjusters or just hire a few more adjusters.

Great place to work at - if the industry is for you.

Claims Professional Trainee - IAP (Former Employee)
    Long Beach, CA

ProsGreat co-workers! The starting pay is competitive and you can't beat the generous benefits package that starts on day one of hire. This particular location was very focused on achieving a strong team spirit - lots of activities and events to help break the monotony. Growing company with an impressive list of clients.

ConsAlthough you get trained at "Claims College" its not enough to prepare you for the workload ahead. The workload starts light but quickly escalates in volume and difficulty (sink or swim scenario). If you don't enjoy this industry - it may be hard to succeed. Out of the 4 people hired for my location, only two stayed with the company. Expect to work very long hours. Expect to be on the phone all day and reviewing an endless stream of digital documents and e-mails. A sense of completion is non existent in this industry. There is plenty of paid time off, but when people come back from vacation they literally spend days catching up.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake sure to hire individuals that will succeed in this industry. Be more particular in the selection process - people with interest in the legal or health industry are your best bet.

    Claims Examiner

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsBenefits, salary comparable, coworkers, I loved this place for many years!
Social company get togethers, picnics, ice cream socials, lunches catered in some, vendors and clients often supplied lunch or treats.

ConsIn the event that you are faced with an unexpected medical issue, Colleague Resources is terrible. Yes you can use FMLA, STD, LTD.....but get ready to dodge employment termination letters in your mailbox every other week. Who needs this? What happened to being a valued employee?

Con- claims load promised is NOT what you get, not even close.

Advice to Senior ManagementIn all reality.....we are all human....unexpected things happen. How would you like to be treated if the shoe was on the other foot? Live and learn.

    An absolute nightmare!!!

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsNo Pros can be said about this outfit.

ConsPoor management. Unbelieveable workload that the most talented can not management. Management defiant that it can be done, which is a delusion. Terrible place to work. Morale low. Company operates on a low plane. Expectations obtuse compared to reality. Company recently bought out. That may be a good thing.

Advice to Senior ManagementComplete overhaul of this company is needed, from the top headquarters throughout. A bad deal..

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
