    Pros

Excellent team/IT management. Hands on and very knowledgeable to the top. Cutting edge technology including NetApp/VMware, SCCM, and other network utilities. Allows for exposure to Linux, newer versions of Notes(v9/IBM), and so on. IT team is enterprise and works very well together. Very helpful and humble. No super stars. IT management is an excellent resource for any IT issues. I can't say enough.

    Cons

A lot of the engineering apps are antiquated and need upgrades. As well as some of the lab equipment and associated hardware. Always "baby sitting" this environment. However, they are soon to upgrade.

    Advice to Management

Keep it up. I have 25+ years IT experience, working many different management styles. This is by far a IT subordinates dream. We are not made to feel inadequate. They are quick to help to give you resources to grow. Never condescending and always positive. In my opinion this is the best model IT group all the way to the top I have ever worked with. I can't thank them enough. Other enterprise corporations can learn from these folks. Chemistry is excellent as well.

    Pros

Location- Lots of parking, great people with exception of upper management. Building is nice, clean and they have free coffee

    Cons

No direction from middle - Sr. Management. I have been told the culture has changed in a negative way since previous CEO left.

    Advice to Management

treat employees like your family. Do not berate and treat people like they are lower class citizens.

    Pros

Some good people to work with. Some good technology.

    Cons

Never give salary increases; starting salary might be ok, but don't expect a raise (ever). They reward "yes" people, so management doesn't necessarily know what they are doing. They force vacation but do not lessen the work, so you end up working and using your time off. Been in meetings where sr management joked about plausible deniability; if you know something is wrong; sr management does not want to hear it. It's a very unhealthy work-life balance

    Advice to Management

    Get off your high horse.

    Pros

Semtech is a fast paced cutting edge technology type of environment. Semtech is always striving to be better than their piers in the industry, great group pf people to work with.

    Cons

In the quest to be a billion dollar company the little guy sometime gets over looked in his or her efforts to support the company goals.

    Advice to Management

Non really. The cons says it all for me. Pay more attention to the ground troops.

  6. Great casual working place.

    Pros

A lot of sport activities available to play at lunch break... Soccer, volleyball, basketball, table tennis... to name a few. And a great workout gym too....

    Cons

There is no fix tapeout schedules. You have to do extra works sometimes to support early shipout date...
Not much procedures and guide line to follow...

    Advice to Management

Need to hire more man power to thoroughly evaluate new products before shipout. Need to detect faulty of your own products rather than by customer

Semtech's Core values are just a piece of paper - The company does not care about the people

    Pros

Used to have a very good team. The company CEO is pretty good, but his VPs are all about status. The top tier of the company is very elitist

    Cons

Core Values are a joke. Specially the one about being open and honest. The only important thing is money, no matter what.

    Advice to Management

Adhere to the Core Values. Talk to the lower ranks. Get the true story. Listen to what they have to say!
