    Pros

Good challenging work environment, with lot of opportunities. Benefits are reasonably good. Also a bit flexible and friendly work environment

    Cons

No pay increments like most competitors, annual benefits are reasonable but no clear idea when to expect a promotion or pay hike.

    Advice to Management

Better listen to the employees, also some of the benefits only focus on head quarter location. There are few other locations present within USA, consider different options for those.

    Pros

Some great products and customer acceptance, but many that are no longer competitive.

    Cons

Poor management, poor employee motivation, mediocre benefits. Their stock has decreased in value by over 30% over the past two years due to lack of new product development and reaction to competition. Repeated rounds of layoffs and resulting increased workload on remaining workforce has deteriorated employee morale.

    Advice to Management

Put more resources on products that show promise and a future. Improve methods of recognizing outstanding employees with promotions and salary increases. The "old boys network" is a thing of the past.

    Pros

Positive thinking, optimism, focus on the main goals, excellence in execution and a lot of other good things cultivated top down to each office and followed almost religiously from the bottom up to the corner office.

    Cons

Semtech HQ office in Camarillo is in excellent SoCal location. However, some foggy and humid mornings burn out only by lunch, so called June -Gloom.

    Advice to Management

It’s maybe time to revisit profit sharing or annual bonus distribution practice. When honoring employment anniversary milestones, something besides memorabilia would have a better value in eyes of employee’s family and friends.

    Pros

Location- Lots of parking, great people with exception of upper management. Building is nice, clean and they have free coffee

    Cons

No direction from middle - Sr. Management. I have been told the culture has changed in a negative way since previous CEO left.

    Advice to Management

treat employees like your family. Do not berate and treat people like they are lower class citizens.

    Pros

The company offers extracurricular activities such as golf, soccer, basketball, etc. if you're into that kind of stuff.

    Cons

The company overloads you with work and keeps adding to your workload on a regular basis until you get burned out or get fired. Workload gets even worse when they do layoffs. It never ends. It's not uncommon for employees to wear multiple hats and not be compensated commensurately. Reminder to management - increased responsibility does not equal a promotion. Senior management wants to make you feel like you're important but you are just a number to them. 6% layoff in 2014 followed by an 8% layoff in 2015. What's next? They also force you to take unpaid time off, about 10 days a year, if you don't have enough vacation saved up. If you do have vacation time, then you are forced to burn it up on their schedule, not yours. If you want even a tiny bit of work-life balance, stay far, far away from this place. If you enjoy a cut-throat environment where you don't know if you'll have a job tomorrow, give this company a try....at your own risk. 1 year here will feel like 7 years. Trust me.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with more respect and class and lead by example. Recognize your employees value and contribution and reward them for it.

    Pros

Some good people to work with. Some good technology.

    Cons

Never give salary increases; starting salary might be ok, but don't expect a raise (ever). They reward "yes" people, so management doesn't necessarily know what they are doing. They force vacation but do not lessen the work, so you end up working and using your time off. Been in meetings where sr management joked about plausible deniability; if you know something is wrong; sr management does not want to hear it. It's a very unhealthy work-life balance

    Advice to Management

    Get off your high horse.

    Pros

Semtech is a fast paced cutting edge technology type of environment. Semtech is always striving to be better than their piers in the industry, great group pf people to work with.

    Cons

In the quest to be a billion dollar company the little guy sometime gets over looked in his or her efforts to support the company goals.

    Advice to Management

Non really. The cons says it all for me. Pay more attention to the ground troops.

  11. Great casual working place.

Former Employee - Product/Test Engineer in Camarillo, CA
Former Employee - Product/Test Engineer in Camarillo, CA

    I worked at Semtech

    Pros

A lot of sport activities available to play at lunch break... Soccer, volleyball, basketball, table tennis... to name a few. And a great workout gym too....

    Cons

There is no fix tapeout schedules. You have to do extra works sometimes to support early shipout date... Not much procedures and guide line to follow...

    Advice to Management

Need to hire more man power to thoroughly evaluate new products before shipout. Need to detect faulty of your own products rather than by customer
