Former Employee – worked at Sensient full-time
Pros – Technical capabilities and plant employees are excellent. Customer is always first attitude.
Cons – CEO and Milwaukee management out of touch to the extent of destroying the flavor business. Lack of care of their employees & customers. Focus on Colors, colors, colors.
Advice to Senior Management – Sell the Flavor business to a company who wants to grow via strategy the flavor business and cares for their employees.

Former Employee – worked at Sensient
Pros – Money to be made for sales types, although that is supposedly changing.
Cons – Management is more concerned about their image (ie. how people dress) than they are about how to run a company.
Horrible reputation in the industry for employee retention.
Advice to Senior Management – Sell the business to another company in the ingredient business.

Former Employee – worked at Sensient
Pros – The pay was above average.
Cons – Executive management in the corporate office ruled by fear. There was no opportunity for advancement, especially for women. In the North American offices there were only 4 women at the director level, when I worked there. People were fired at the drop of a hat. The stress level was at a high level all the time.

Former Employee – worked at Sensient full-time for more than a year
Pros – My coworkers were wonderful people, and Sensient has a couple more holidays than most companies. There is a lot of money to be made in this industry, so the company has been doing well to spite itself.
Cons – Sensient is run by fear and intimidation. Upper management is unapproachable and lower management is so scared of upper management they will sacrifice anyone below them to keep their own job. My manager told me he didn't want to manage and just wants to be left alone. How's that for a closed door policy?
Too much of the management has worked there for 20 plus years and are just waiting to retire. No leadership, no ethic, no values.
Advice to Senior Management – Go learn about work/life balance. Happy employees are productive employees, you can't run a public company like the Navy.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
