I worked at Sentilla full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great co-workers and management to work with. Kitchen stocked with wide variety of food, snacks, drinks, special coffee. Beautiful office. Lots of natural light.

    Cons

Going through growing pains. Marketing changed the messaging too often. Not sure what direction to take the product.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Figure out the direction of the product, get the messaging aligned and hit it out of the park. I want to see Sentilla succeed!

I worked at Sentilla (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Was started by very smart team, clever product idea, friendly and smart team. Enjoyed coming in to the office every day.

    Cons

Top management was grossly incompetent, ran the company into the ground by following losing sales and channel strategies far too long and making a small number of key hiring firing boners.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too late for advice--company was acquired for peanuts, party's over.

    Pros

Executives and founders allow managers the opportunity to develop/execute against their own plan and make independent decisions. Until something goes wrong....

    Cons

The challenge is dealing with the idealistic expectations and egos of the founders, who remain in denial about their accountability in building a product delayed by so many design changes and flaws it was beaten by the competition before it ever made it to market.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Accept accountability for the decisions you made that caused the product to be obsolete before it ever made it to market instead of pointing the finger at the sales team for their inability to sell it.

    I worked at Sentilla

    Pros

The company offers a good environment to work in, with brilliant and fun people. The company offers nice perks and upper management is experienced. There are possibilities for advancement or salary increases although this is kept to too few employees.

    Cons

Management is disconnected from its engineering base, with lines of communication improperly kept open. The company is located outside of San Francisco.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your engineering team. Keep the communication lines open.

    I worked at Sentilla

    Pros

People could come and go. As long as you did your work, you could work from anywhere, including Europe and the ski slopes

    Cons

Lots of strategy and product changes. Hard to keep up. The market agreed. Regarding management, they should have made staff changes long ago. Now they're in trouble because of it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop being so distracted by personal matters and stick to business.

    I worked at Sentilla

    Pros

Good location. Near Caltrain in Redwood City. Laid back environment.

    Cons

Big egos, weak management makes it hard to get things done. There's very little motivation from management, especially the founders. And the constantly changing roadmap makes it impossible for sales to their job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pick a direction, stick to it and encourage and motivate your team
