    Pros

Please look at Netflix's Culture document on slideshare for a similar sense of Sentrana. The company has a lot of smart motivated people. I wouldn't worry too much about upper management, Sentrana colleagues will weed out people who can't keep up -that's the downside if you get ostracized. The upside is an incredibly smart group of people who can solve some pretty spectacular problems. Look at the bios of many of the people and you'll understand what it's like to be an undergrad at an Ivy League school and have to fight to be part of a project group. You have to pull your weight every day. Overall the wind is certainly blowing in their favor and Sentrana is at the forefront of the next generation of data analytics.

    Cons

Many will find the cons as pros - depending on your willingness to take on responsibility and personal risk. Don't look for daily instruction. Certainly there's training - closer to osmosis versus formal. But as a young, smart person - it'll be hard to find a company that will give you as much responsibility as Sentrana. Where we've actually let people go is they've not taken on the responsibility of leadership that was expected of them. If you're hired in a certain role - you have to own the job and lead it.

The other cons are the company has survived the recession (along with their clients) - but lost their growth legs as a result of hunkering down. The market has changed and competitors (along with clients) are smarter and have moved up the analytic maturity curve at a fast rate. Sentrana is emerging from it's recession posture and is now engaging with more sophisticated analytics driven businesses.

    Advice to Management

Don't let the past cloud your vision of the future. Continue to invest in the team and focus on growing talent internally.

    Pros

Collegiate environment, Friday catered lunches and happy hours, and casual attire. In the heart of the capital, Washington DC.

    Cons

Everything is a high priority, micromanagement, a lot of meetings a day, very poor communication about all aspects of the company- in general.

Company has great vision, great products and thinks a lot about its people

    Cons

Needs to develop a sales culture and grow the business as timing is everything in new product innovations

    Advice to Management

Should continue to pay attention to people, the culture and how the innovations fits the larger eco-systems of business to serve

I have been working at Sentrana

    Pros

Sentrana is a startup tech company. As a small company, most projects requires multi-team efforts, and even newbees get tons of opportunities to work with people from other teams and get exposed to all aspects of a project.

    Cons

Not really a con: small as it is, the name is not as cool as Google or Microsoft on your resume.

    Pros

The company is very young and it feels like academic environment where people from multiple discipline collaborate. The problem we are solving is very interesting, the people are smart and the senior managements are a great team. Great benefits and pay -- Free breakfast on Monday, free lunch on Friday, paid parking/metro expenses, telecommuting options and etc. They are expanding work place, the environment will only be better. It's a great place if you are looking for software development, quantitative modeling or consulting jobs. Washington, DC is not silicon valley but having a company like Sentrana here is really cool!

    Cons

There are not enough people to work on multiple projects and the workload is quite a lot. Things can get chaotic at times and sometimes people don't know how to prioritize.

    Advice to Management

Ramp up resources and allow people to focus more in one project rather than multiple projects at the same time. More vacation days will be appreciated! 10 days is not enough, the norm is 15 days!

    Pros

High energy, smart people, fun, good salary, great work/life balance, company sponsored events, great senior management, awesome co-workers, the company anticipates employees needs.

    Cons

Very full work load, difficult to focus on one task at a time, everything is high priority. So - it is high stress sometimes.

    Advice to Management

The lower management staff needs more support, i.e., more assistants and more employees to help carry the work load.
