Former Employee – worked at Sephora as a contractor for less than a year

Current Employee – been working at Sephora full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Entrepreneurial feel, innovative, growth opportunities, amazing bonus program, great benefits and perks.
Cons – A bit of a grind with much more work than there is time to complete. HR service and internal communication is amateurish, especially for a large company.

Current Employee – been working at Sephora full-time for more than a year
Pros – I love the Monday thru Friday schedule. There are lots of positions within the warehouse to learn. Hard work pays off. Management genuinely cares about you and your work needs. It's VERY stable.
Cons – You accrue PTO at a decent rate but not fast enough in my opinion. There are opportunities to move up, but it's very competitive and you could wait a looong time for the next opportunity. There's mandatory OT, they can call it without warning, and if they need you to stay and get work done there's no negotiation.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Sephora part-time for more than a year
Pros – The Sephora culture makes it easier to gauge correct behavior.
Cons – The promise of education and advancement may be overstated.
Advice to Senior Management – I worry because I see that middle management in the store appears to lack balance in their lives. This is not an issue that I have witnessed in only store location. Their stress has an effect on other cast members and clients.

Former Employee – worked at Sephora full-time for more than a year
Pros – Gratis, overvew brand training. It can be fun to work around so many new products.
Cons – The most fundamental problem with Sephora as a whole is that in regard to company policies, there is way too much gray area. There is no black and white. Unfortunately, it just makes for confusion and inconsistency-not the execution of better ideas.
Advice to Senior Management – Sephora is a successful company-but has not really come up with the formula for success. Look at your peer companies in the cosmetics world. What are they doing differently?
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Sephora full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – The access to many of best brands in the beauty industry is like no other company. The gratis given out to employees is incredible. The product knowledge you can acquire is endless.
Cons – The company values are not practiced on a cast, leadership or corporate level like they used to. Work Life Balance is pretty much a joke. Some employees get promoted based off tenure and not talent. The corporate people who do practice what they preach are few and far between compared to 6 years ago.
Advice to Senior Management – Remember where you came from. Sephora was once truly the "Beauty Authority" but that is now a thing of the past. People work for people and that is what gave this company the prestige and honor it once held. Take feedback the way you give it instead of being defensive. Some of the best ideas have come from your cast and should be valued as such.

Former Employee – worked at Sephora full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – The work environment of a store can be fun, having worked at multiple, they are all different The gratis is a plus and a great way to experience the plethora of products that Sephora houses. The ability to network with brands is a great way to introduce yourself and possibly seek an alternate avenue if given the opportunity. If the position entails traveling, this is a great experience to see how Sephora is spreading the standard of beauty industry and its services.
Cons – Sephora likes to be innovative. They have created a very unique and relatable way for clients to express their shopping experiences, and with what I have noticed, all members of management, even consultants, take great pride in that. However, I think that they take on way too much and it overlaps what should be focused on. Education lead...PBA...POS mobile...Sephora, you might be an engineer for presenting many opportunities, but you lose focus due to too many introductions.
Advice to Senior Management – Directed to Store Directors and higher: you need to be more invested in the people that work for you. That means when you come to visit your stores, you need to know the associates that generate a profitable, reputable, and successful store. The Store Directors might help keep things orderly, but the leg work is hardly recognized. We don't find an incentive to send you on vacation really rewarding.
