I worked at Sephora part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The gratis and my coworkers, helping customers improve their skin. It was a fun job! I learned a lot about so many different products and I loved socializing with like-minded people.

    Cons

Giving out endless samples and not enough hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at a Sephora Inside JCPenney's and my advice would be to take your business elsewhere. Penney's is a slowly sinking ship. They will cut employee's hours without a second thought. It causes your Advisors to look elsewhere for jobs that have more hours and causes a nasty turnaround rate. Sephora in general is a wonderful company.

I have been working at Sephora full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Values based company that makes decisions that align with those values.
    - The most innovative beauty retailer in the industry: technology, shopping experience, classes.
    - Education and investment made to keep everyone up to date and knowledgable daily.
    - Growth potential on several different platforms; education, management, artistry, corporate.

    Cons

I have no real cons. I may be biased but I can say I've worked in multiple locations and while there were minor opportunities in some areas, every experi nice has afforded me the opportunity to grow and fall more in love with this company.

    Nice atmosphere, good co-workers

I have been working at Sephora part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The discount is nice to have if you are into beauty. My managers are fair in helping cast members get to the next level in their career. If you show interest in your job or another function within the organization, management will assist. Very good environment where everyone can help each other. Great place to learn. Nice gratis.

    Cons

Pay isn't stellar but for retail its not horrible either. If working nights isn't your thing, do not mention it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give work-life balance to cast that have children. If you like to be home with your child so do cast members. Besides that, keep up the good work.

    I worked at Sephora part-time

    Pros

Tons of free product from vendors.
    Lots of opportunity for learning.
Promote from within so there is a lot of opportunity for advancement

    Cons

It's like being in the military. The number of rules is mind-boggling. The behind-the-scenes environment "backstage" is filthy beyond belief.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Walk the talk. Get your backstage together.

I worked at Sephora full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Free stuff from different brands
    Monthly bonuses (sometimes)
    Trainings
    Employee discount

    Cons

Be advised... This company may be up there on the Forbes list but it depends in what store you work at. I worked at this company for years and went through 4 store managers, one that was fired for sexually harassing employees. Salaries are competitive but they cheat people who have worked there for years and have new people come in with higher salaries, that's not fair. They will cut your hours and your days when they don't make budget. Good luck being able to pay your bills on those weeks. But the store managers will make a bonus on your behalf. No benefits unless you are full time and they don't give those out often. Don't walk.. Run in the opposite direction!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be fair. Think about your employees and stop cutting people's hours just so that the higher managers can make payroll bonuses. Pay your people fair wages. These stores make millions and pay pennies.

    Pros

Free products aka "Gratis", One on One training with visiting Brands, Fun work environment, Great co-workers, 20% Discount & 40% on Sephora brand

    Cons

Inconsistent management and lack of training from corporate for non-leadership cast, No advancement opportunities, Stupid polyester "costume", Forced implementation of "color IQ" which honestly needs development - my eyes can match better than that thing lol

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest more in your employees, Increase hourly pay caps (Licensed professionals deserve to earn more than $10/hr!)
