I have been working at Sephora full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great atmosphere, truly impressive professionals, seasoned veterans at the helm.

    Cons

The occasional power hungry manager can bring everything to it's knees. Not everyone is good at delegating tasks, even if they are not qualified to complete them and others within their immediate team is.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow those qualified individuals within your team to do their jobs well.

    Pros

Working with makeup, applying makeup, benefits , consistent with the hours they give you, bonuses .

    Cons

Yeah it's fun and you get to apply makeup, but there main focus is selling . Since selling is there main focus , it would be nice to get commission since there not competitive with pay.

I worked at Sephora part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Fun to work with makeup and interact with customers. Decent discount because you are technically a JCP employee.

    Cons

Zero work-life balance. Small staff so very competitive and immature. Limited hours, no room for growth. My location asked that we sign paperwork saying we would not commit fraud with the Beauty Insider program, then coworkers actively committed fraud so that their registration percentages would not be low.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the bad management at the store level instead of working with them! Gratis should extend to all employees. Also, more hands on training instead of watching brand videos.

I worked at Sephora (less than an year)

    Pros

    None everything was a lie

    Cons

no hours management gives hours to the same seasonal girls when they hired on 25 girls. rotating the girls would have been fair. we did all these interviews just be let go after receiving 3 paychecks. The paychecks were only for a bout 3 days at a time. Some girls have barely worked 2 days and dont have any income to fall back on. Sephora Beverly Center has wasted our time. Instead of assuming you could afford to hired 25 girls (which was way more than the previous years), you should have played it smart. Now you look like liars. Not to mention the lack of communication from management to the seasonal employees about hours. We had to hear it being whispered through the store.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest and show the values you claim your company was built on.

    Seasonal Challenges

I have been working at Sephora part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The people who work regularly all seem to enjoy the job, the gratis products, the free-to-be-who-you-are attitude. They took time to interview me twice--the 2nd one being one-on-one and in-depth. They've honored my one request so far for a night off. Management does their job but seems to have more fun than other companies I've worked at. I have hopes of being retained after the holiday season, because I think I'd enjoy being with the company long-term.

    Cons

Seasonal hires are getting less than 4 hours a week--sometimes no hours at all. I was hoping for 12-20 hours a week, but not remotely close to that. But getting a 2nd job and not being available for Sephora might jeopardize this chance to get into the company, so I'm waiting it out and prepared to be flat broke this holiday season.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Transparency about the very limited hours for seasonal hires would be far more considerate of your part-time workers.

Great gratis (free makeup), they are respectful of work & life Balance.

    Cons

4 hour shifts, the pay. Long process of certification. Works just like a regular retail job

I have been working at Sephora part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

You get daily training on different brands and the gratis you receive really does help you sell the product to the client. The management is this location is very friendly and is sympathetic to their employee's needs.

    Cons

Hours are not always consistent. Pay is good, but can always be better. Holiday season is a bit of challenge, but you are in retail so it comes with the job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give your employees first pick on hours for the holiday rather than hire 30 more individuals and the hours are lowered for your core team.
