I have been working at Serco Group full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I can say with my hand on my heart I have never had a positive word to say about this organisation.

    Cons

Treatment of staff is appalling. If they can find another mug to do it cheaper you are out. Senior management are totally clueless, if you have no morals you may succeed, but only if you brown-nose the right people. Experience and ability are alien concepts. You are a number to be dispensed with as and when convenient. I have never written a review before, but I have never worked for such a company before. If you think it may be different for you - good luck, but I genuinely say AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I have been working at Serco Group full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Many extermely hard working staff at all levels of the company. Current reputation is worse than deserved. Challenging but rewarding work. Staff do truely believe in good service.

    Cons

Requires more internal investment in people and technology. Very political both internally and externally. Strategically we need to consider where we really want to position ourselves in the market, we cannot be all things to all people

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Drop the internal politics. Stronger direction on strategy from exec

I have been working at Serco Group part-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

staff are empowered and they permit flexible work hours.

    Cons

company can be a little bit disparate, if you need help from elsewhere within the organisation, e.g. another dept or another team, it's not always a straight forward process to get the help or to make contact etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make time to listen to all employees, the Senior Managers don't necessarily know everything or see every opportunity.

I worked at Serco Group full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The Company seems very secure commercially with long-term contracts.

    Cons

The ethos of the Group was not reflected in the individual companies. When you read about the ethics of the Serco Group these will not necessarily be reflected in every individual company. The reason I was tempted to join was because they were planning to implement best practices in Programme Management. However, shortly after joining they discovered they had no budget and best practice was a long way from the truth. The senior management changed on a regular basis allowing no continuity or direction to the company. This never changed in 2 years.

After I left the Company has been majorly discredited as having cheated the UK government. No surprise really.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Wouldn't know where to begin.

I have been working at Serco Group full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    1. Well established company more then 25 years.
    2. Strong presence of UK public sector.
    3. Fast growing in terms of revenue and manpower.

    Cons

    1. Management is not supportive.
    2. Politics in ratings and promotions.
    3. Low/No hikes. You never know what you gonna get.
    4. No enhancement in technical knowledge as technical skills are not used at all.
    5. Not good for freshers as they lose their interest in work and knowledge they learnt.
    6. No transparency about growth, opportunities and company policies as they are always hidden.
    7. Bad impression because of the projects which serco is holding in india.
    8. Cannot take long leaves and its totally depends upon HR.
    9. No cash allowance for unused annual leaves.
    10. Management is not easily accessible/approachable.
    11. No internal job shifting(IJS) and onsite opportunity provided.
    12. Many things happens within the company but you never get to know about them. Coz management is poor in communication.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please do not fool your employees and maintain a good relation with everyone of them. Let the employees know what they would like to.
