    Pros

A good place to work. You are employed based on your ability to do the job

The company can be more involved in the career development of staff

I worked at Serco Group full-time

    Pros

Interesting range of options and business areas

    Cons

Very heavy emphasis on costs, always trying to drive down expenses. Some significant failures due to under-funding. Focused on government contracts leading to problems when they inherited a lot of staff with a flexible attitude to reporting. Promising anything to win a bid leads to massive rework later on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually pay attention to Black Hat reviews instead of pre-judging them. Talk to experts instead of project managers.

I have been working at Serco Group full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I can say with my hand on my heart I have never had a positive word to say about this organisation.

    Cons

Treatment of staff is appalling. If they can find another mug to do it cheaper you are out. Senior management are totally clueless, if you have no morals you may succeed, but only if you brown-nose the right people. Experience and ability are alien concepts. You are a number to be dispensed with as and when convenient. I have never written a review before, but I have never worked for such a company before. If you think it may be different for you - good luck, but I genuinely say AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

work life balance not a consideration to serco all they are interest in is the bottom line.
    Staff unsupported by senior management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

do a shift on a busy event/function for 12 hours on your own with agency staff who who don't know what they are doing!!!!!
Rupert Soames needs to be aware of who works for him as his md when his secratary replies to his emails.

I have been working at Serco Group full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Many extermely hard working staff at all levels of the company. Current reputation is worse than deserved. Challenging but rewarding work. Staff do truely believe in good service.

    Cons

Requires more internal investment in people and technology. Very political both internally and externally. Strategically we need to consider where we really want to position ourselves in the market, we cannot be all things to all people

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Drop the internal politics. Stronger direction on strategy from exec

I have been working at Serco Group part-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

staff are empowered and they permit flexible work hours.

    Cons

company can be a little bit disparate, if you need help from elsewhere within the organisation, e.g. another dept or another team, it's not always a straight forward process to get the help or to make contact etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make time to listen to all employees, the Senior Managers don't necessarily know everything or see every opportunity.

I have been working at Serco Group part-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

None at all. Used to be an awesome place to work but not anymore.

    Cons

Only brown nosers get promoted. You get nothing for commitment and dedication. You get no training and the management do not care about your health and wellbeing or anything else for that matter!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your staff are treated like numbers rather than human beings. Get real and treat them how you would like to be treated! What goes around comes around...
