    Pros

This was a great place when we went public and were spending investors' money like drunken sailors... (Remember the Friday Keggers?). ServiceSource when Mike was running the company.

    Cons

Heading in the wrong direction. Mike knew the business. He got distracted by fancy shmancy SAAS business models and he lost control. He wasn't helped by an incompetent team around him. It's too bad he was pushed out while the real problem got promoted to CEO. She goes from running the finance department that led the company to the brink of financial ruin to managing the whole thing. Only operating experience she has is her surf camp where she spends most of her time.

New CFO. Wow. He ran QLogic into the ground before he was forced to resign. So now I guess he is going to implement financial discipline and forecasts?

    Blind leading the blind.

Now the constant re-orgs and layoffs and restructuring and sense of paranoia is not helpful.

Management needs to let us do what we know how to do and that's close deals. But now that I'm laid off and everyone else is heading for the hills or on the chopping block I guess that ain't gonna happen.

I have been working at ServiceSource full-time

    Pros

Good work/life balance and decent pay. Quarterly bonus (sometimes) and average age is around 25.

    Cons

Micromanagement and have to make a minimum numbers of phone calls. They say they are a sales center but are more like a call center and PO chasers. Not much actual selling. Communication between management and employees is lacking and quotas are not always set in stone. They can (and will) raise your quota mid-quarter and still expect you to do 100%.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop the micromanagement and minimum calls, etc. Let the "sales" reps do their job any way they want.

    Pros

Compensation, Awesome break facilities, pool table, chess tables, free coffee and tea, lots of company outings that you can drink at, fun work environment

    Cons

Cliquey, lots of drama withing teams, your job depends on the client, communication between management and staff, needs organization

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk to your employees, don't have them work under you. Work with them so that you all can work together peacefully. Don't pick favorites !

    Pros

    Good location in SOMA.
    Interesting business model
Good challenges to learn about building a service business
Everybody is very smart and professional.

    Cons

The company's leadership (which has changed dramatically over the last 12 months) is constantly changing and seems to be at odds with one another. The CEO recently left so there is opportunity for improvement in the culture, but the first month doesn't appear to be the case. Very disappointing as there are many smart people in the company and the company continues to attract good talent. Unfortunately, the business model doesn't appear to be working so the company faces a very challenging future. The good news is that there is a good talent inside the company, if management could harvest it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stability in the management ranks, please.

    Pros

Fun atmosphere, play around a lot, work is cyclical so some days you may be swamped while others you are walking around drinking beer and playing pool.

    Cons

This is not a real work environment. The leadership is a complete joke. Instead of being forward thinking and seeing what the ramifications are, they will go ahead with implementation and then spend the next 2 quarters putting together trainings to get the Center back on track. Plans are never put in place or fully verbalized to the people who are meant to do the work. Pay is very imbalanced. Upper "leadership" will often hit bonuses on faulty numbers or a constant moving target full of excuses why they should get paid out without producing the numbers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Support the people who work hard everyday and don't just keep them on the line for your benefit. Don't talk about the engagement model when you are not practicing such. For a global company that focuses on cloud based services, I have never witnessed such a disconnected group of people.
