    I worked at Servpro Industries

    Pros

Concerning overtime, when it was mandatory, it did interfere with work-life, but the company always made sure we were taken care of and more often than not, provided lunch or dinner in some cases.

    Cons

None, very balanced company and always trying to make things better.

I worked at Servpro Industries full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Getting out of the office and seeing new people. The Christmas party is the only good thing they've got going.

    Cons

There is excessive turnover and the reason is the franchise owners who are greedy and don't care about the employees or even the customers. Business relationships have been lost because they would rather make money than do the right thing. They nickel and dime customers and employees. Every employee is micromanaged. You have to report every thing you do.
You aren't given the tools you need to do your job.

    Pros

Ownership is sincere in their desire to promote a family atmosphere.

    Cons

Management style and policies are erratic. Things change on a whim with little concern for the people involved.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Walk the talk. Share the wealth. Use the strengths of the people you have.

I worked at Servpro Industries full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

There are no pros to working for Servpro of Wilson County. Matter of fact the owners of Wilson county also own Madison/Goodlettesville, South Nashville, and Sumner county franchises as well, so probably best to stay away from all of them.

    Cons

No lunches, low pay, favoritism, not keeping promises (i.e told during interview would recieve an eval and raise at 90 day mark.... took six months) On call when the manager wants you specifically to be on call (seemed to be i was on call every week during the end of my employment), harassment, stalking, multiple osha, tosha, eeoc, labor violations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Being a new manager you do not need to establish that "your boss" so much. We got it when we were told we were going to be under new management. Treat everyone equal, and NEVER use profanity in front of other employees directed at someone because it shows that you are not in control of anything not even yourself and do not need to be in a position of managing people when you can not even manage your temper.

Good people, a lot of potential, poorly managed, behind the times in terms of business practices and technology.

    I worked at Servpro Industries

    Pros

The corporate office and the franchise community are full of wonderful people. I got to work with truly amazing people in Gallatin and with the franchises around the country. There is a family atmosphere that is rare and hard to find anywhere else. You can learn a vast array of knowledge from all areas of the business. The industry is fascinating and changing all the time. The home-grown entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well. The CEO really cares about employees and tries to take care of them. They are also debt-free and growing. A great place to start a career.

    Cons

Uptight. They do not trust professionals to do their jobs and they micromanage from the very top (the CEO reviews all articles going out with a red pen). Division managers have zero authority and on down the line, it only gets worse. As far as business practices, they are behind the times. The internal business processes are a mess and nonexistent in some areas. There are no project managers other than for IT development projects. There are major initiatives going on with no project managers driving them or even using project management practices- they are just winging it, so projects, including software, tend to take years longer than they need to. There is NO employee development. Any professional growth is a by-product of what is provided to the franchisees if you are in a department that has access.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow employees to use their expertise to implement best practices they've learned from other large organizations. Trust them to do good work and make good business decisions. Engage with outside consultants.
