I worked at Shane's Rib Shack full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

the food is great, my managers were good honest people, as sanitary as it could possibly be. i learned how to do a lot of different things

    Cons

having to always find a cover when you're sick regardless, not enough pay for the work you're doing: too much hard work and standing on your feet for seven to eight dollars. tipping also isn't suggested so customers hardly tip even though you're basically acting as their full service waiter.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

don't make being sick or having other plans a punishment, life happens

I worked at Shane's Rib Shack

    Pros

Able to get a lot of hours if you are willing to work.

    Cons

The pay is minimal, and it takes a long time to get a raise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay employee's more to give them a reason to perform at their best.

I have been working at Shane's Rib Shack full-time

    Pros

The Corporate level of this company is very employee friendly. Training is above par compared to other concepts I've worked for.

    Cons

The franchise I work for in the Valdosta area is completely disrespectful to their employees; I've been made to work off the clock, cursed at, and my job threatened on a daily basis.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Add more controls of your franchises.

  6.

Paid the bills, without much actual thinking or work.

I have been working at Shane's Rib Shack part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The job was not very demanding, and the employees were grand.

    Cons

There was not much room for personal growth or advancement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The owner was great, albeit over stressed as he owned multiple restaurants and the general managers were sub par making his job and the employees job more unpleasant than necessary. Pay was straight though.

I have been working at Shane's Rib Shack full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Friendly environment. Promotions from within.

    Cons

Franchisee needs to be less involved in operations. Work to life ratio is nonexistent. I have worked in restaurants awhile and there is no support system in place with this concept. Greed gets the better of the business and staff is under paid drastically.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work to life balance is key to making managers care. Don't critique negatively everytime employees make mistakes. Grow from it and do not throw it in their face. Have managers train at a corporate head quarters because learning from the owner is no good. Engage the employees as you would customers and you will find that employees are more receptive. Be undersranding and be patient with them. Not everyone will get it right the first time. Employees are not expendable so do not treat them this way. If you have high turnover then you are doing it wrong. The more you micromanage the more turnover. Release some power to your senior managers

    Pros

They are family friendly, will work with your schedule.

    Cons

Rate of pay isn't any way close to any other food places, for equal job. A manager at Krystal's makes more per hour than a manager there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please think about reasonable pay rates for your employees, we work hard and half of us deserve it.
