As an Intern I had a great experience

I worked at Shapiro & Duncan as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

I have been fairly treated since the interview process up to my intern period. The wage was good enough and employees are nice. Good environment to acquire some experience

    Cons

Some managers micro tasks too much my work that sometimes I doubted of myself

I have been working at Shapiro & Duncan full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The office atmosphere is second to none. It is a work hard play hard mentality and everyone is there to help. Autonomy is provided while there are still standard procedures to be followed.

    Cons

If you are looking at Shapiro and Duncan for direct compensation, you will be looking in the wrong spot. However Shapiro and Duncan provides ample training in all areas as well as company events on the regular. When you join, you join as a family, not for yourself.

I worked at Shapiro & Duncan full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Everyone has a great attitude and seems to enjoy their work. The atmosphere is pretty laid back and work hours can be flexible.

    Cons

As with many companies in the construction industry, usage of modern technology is lagging, but even worse, many of the employees don't know how to utilize the technology they have access to.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees need to be properly trained in the programs they use. Productivity could be improved dramatically if workers knew how to be efficient and effective.

I have been working at Shapiro & Duncan full-time

    Pros

Great people to work for. The overall environment is positive with a team environment. Tons of opportunity to build upon your education, training and resume. Opportunities to be involved in the local community. Complete support for apprentices. The owners truly want you to succeed. Encourage creativity and want you to think outside the box. New ideas are very much welcomed. Laid back yet hard-working. Employees are always recognized by having several company paid functions, raffles and awards. Lastest technology used for the most part.

    Cons

Need to update employee cell phones. Get ipads for Foreman instead of Laptops

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
