Current Employee – been working at Sharp HealthCare
Pros – Sharp HealthCare takes great care in developing the corporate culture so that employees at all levels understand the direction the company is trying to take. Our motto is: "To be the best place to work, the best place to practice medicine, and the best place to receive care." As a result, Sharp employees are extremely proud to be part of the organization and it shows.
Cons – Because Sharp is a non-profit organization, it can pay it's employees competitively but relies heavily on other incentives. Sharp employees are rarely the highest paid for any given position but employees are generally happy and often return to Sharp after having worked elsewhere.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep it up!

Current Employee – been working at Sharp HealthCare
Pros – At the corporate level, there's a commitment to quality and a sincere desire to make things better. The system as a whole recently (2008) won the Malcom Baldrige Award for Quality, and SGR and SMH have won Magnet designation, a prestigious award geared toward nursing.
Cons – It's hard work a lot of the time. It's a complex environment, but overall, this is not unusual for a healthsystem this size. At the corporate level, there's genuine leadership and some amazing folks that truly do a great job. In the trenches is where the rubber meets the road!
Advice to Senior Management – Don't stop the "SHARP Experience". The quarterly leadership sessions are truly invaluable. I appreciate being able to step out of work for a day, and relax and learn new concepts. Staff appreciate the annual sessions where they can see and feel the results of their efforts. Sure, it might be hyped and "produced", but it's still worthwhile because there is a genuine element of helping people underneath.
