    Pros

Good pay, good customers, regular meetings to discuss changes in policy, plans, procedures, or products, and a great benefit package. Friendly coworkers. Lots of support from support members and supervisors

    Cons

Upper management would interfere with day to day operations without knowing what they were really talking about anymore. Had several meetings where management would come in to ask how to improve job experience and reference outdated programs and applications, not knowing they had been replaced months if not years ago and were no longer accessible. Additionally, the reorganization of the company was a futile step at saving money and caused many to believe that the company is no longer local friendly.

    Pros

Good benefits, management was accommodating for students.

    Cons

Call Centre work and the typical call metrics.

    Advice to Management

Focus less on the metrics and turning technical support into a sales role and more on customer service.

    Pros

Fantastic benefits, great people, and sufficient salary (you won't get rich working at Shaw, but you'll definitely get by.)

    Cons

Upper management rarely thinks through an idea before launch, meaning that the front line and customers often serve as beta testers, both intentionally and unintentionally.

    Advice to Management

Do some focus groups outside of Calgary. You need less people who will say yes to you.

    Pros

It was alright TV on the walls and good support. Floor walkers to come up to you and help you out in person however sometimes you had to call them and sit on hold. Computers and environment was good

    Cons

Lack of motiviation. Treated like a call center that was very strict, just mattered about numbers a lot would post stats of who took the most calls and would not care about quality that much.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management would be to monitor calls a lot more often and discipline people who actually did not do a good job

    Pros

Great internal Culture People internally care

    Cons

Working on large Program where not many employees but mainly contractors means internal culture not applied

    Advice to Management

Look at large groups of contractors and try to apply the culture to them vs. losing the culture with them.

    Pros

Honestly - the company when I first started 5 years ago was awesome. Everything was great, everyone treated each other like family and everyone equally shared all the values that Shaw had taught and preached.

    Cons

However after all the layoffs, (mine included) Shaw is no longer the same company it was 5 years ago. Everything is now sales based focused because they are losing customers and also they are getting hit hard by other competitors like Netflix and Telus etc.

    Advice to Management

Honestly, get a grip - after all these layoffs you think that it will help improve the Shaw culture again? Think again. Unless we focus back on what making Shaw great 5 years ago then I don't think this company will last very long unless it gets bought out or something big happens to them.
