    You are just a number

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Calgary, AB (Canada)

ProsI worked with great people on my team. They were dynamic and dedicated. Many of us have left for greener pastures. The pay and benefits are great, too.

ConsThe cream doesn't rise to the top. Shaw likes to promote yes-men and pencil pushers, not anyone who has actual leadership qualities.

Advice to Senior ManagementValue your people. And value your customers. Stop putting out crap products and services and go back to your roots.

ProsLarge Comnpany so good benifits and fairly good job security

ConsLow Pay. Always ask more from their employees but not will to give back to the employees. Quality is not the focus. Impressing whoever is above is the focus

Advice to Senior ManagementTake a good look at your quality and ignor who's kissing your ass

    Not quite organized

Software Developer (Former Employee) Calgary, AB (Canada)

ProsHigh pay for contractors if you're smart, and sometimes allowed overtime. Some smart people to work with.

ConsLow pay for employees compared to industry, yearly salary increases are 2% average and 3% max. The smart people have realized that it's better to lay low than to try and fix anything. The hero culture means there is a lot of fire-fighting (like someone else said on here), and some people's reputations and careers have been built on being 'needed'. That's a scary life choice.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf someone is talking about the same problem over the course of a few months, fire their manager. It should have been fixed on the first, second, or third attempt.

    Terrible Company to work For.

IT Manager (Former Employee) Calgary, AB (Canada)

ProsIf you want to work yourself to death then this is the place for you. The only pro I found was that I clearly know what kind of company I would never want to work for again. I learned what was important to me in my career by living a nightmare at Shaw.

ConsSenior leadership has no vision or plan. They have a hero culture where everyone is fighting fires and no one is looking past the chaos to determine what needs to be done. The culture is also very ladder climbing where your 'friends' will stab you in the back just to get what they want.

Advice to Senior ManagementFire your senior leadership in IT. They are making a mess that will be very difficult for you to recover from.

supervisor determines when you get to move within the company
