Advice to Senior Management
None, as management is really good at this company. Perhaps, more communication to frontline staff would be good and less spontaneous changes
Pros
Purely money. As a Unionized TFR, we're paid very well compared to others in the company.
Cons
1960s Computer system does down everyday slowing the entire company down.
Poor Management and lack of planning hurts everyone including our customers.
We change product lines every 8 months which doesn't give customers any confidence.
Advice to Senior Management
It's seems like we never have a plan. When we were Rogers, we always had a plan and strived to be Cable Pioneers. Now we are Shaw and our processes are from the stone ages and have no sence of leadership.
Pros
Excellent benefits, staff are top of the line.
Cons
Twice a year when they weed out the weakest link you don't know if your on the chopping block.
Advice to Senior Management
Lets get cell phones on the market, and offer long term customers some long term loyalty incentives. Seems we keep raising rates and are not providing anything new.
Pros
friendly, good starter package, not much overtime, people come to know each other outside of work, not much politics going on
Cons
management not always around, feedback minimal at times, sometimes need to say things multiple times to be heard, not much advancement because of management saturation
Advice to Senior Management
can you get desks and keyboards that are more ergonomic? sometimes after 8 hours you just feel you have gotten brokeback!
Pros
It's a great place to start and improve your communication skills for those people who has English as a second language.
Cons
You have to kiss almost every supervisor's Ass to get recognized and move up in the department.
Advice to Senior Management
Please don't get too excited, if one of your employee makes a mistake ...
Pros
good pay, good benefits package. Physical working environment is very nice, get a very comfy working space (in a call centre anyways) and get an excellent view
Cons
double standards of management, depending on who you get as your supervisor. Also, your resources to perform your job are quite limited, whether it is written documentation or speaking to the tech 2 guys for help. Supervisors don't know alot technically, they're mainly there to watch your phone stats. Like many call centres, call stats are stressed much more over customer service even though they expect you to do both equally well, and will point it out on reports.
Advice to Senior Management
No opinion
Pros
Shaw treats employees with respect and in return simply asks that you be accountable for your actions. The leaders of the company realized long ago that Shaw is only as strong as the employees it keeps. Everyone is treated well!
Cons
No downside to working at Shaw.
Advice to Senior Management
Great job. Looking forward to going wireless.
Pros
Everyone works together to get things done. It is hard to believe that a company with 10,000 employees gets along so well, with virtually no politics,
Cons
So few and so small, nothing to speak of.
Advice to Senior Management
We would like to see and hear more from you.
Pros
Good benefits package, big belief in work and life balance. Overall good team environment.
Cons
Positons are not defined. You will likely wear several hats. No mentorship program. Only opportunities to move forward involve moving to H/O in Calgary. Despite being one of Shaw's largest money making markets, there are several departments that are only available in Calgary (no local HR or Marketing Dept etc.). Job titles are not up to par with true accountabilities (supervisor title should be manager, sales rep position is equivalent of account manager etc.)
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your front line reps- they know what they're talking about.
