Pros
good sales environment
models are nice
floorplans are up to date
Cons
Project management was poor
forward planning all handled by secretary
permit issues never addressed
Advice to Senior Management
get your act together
Pros
Nice people and flexible work environment.
Cons
No employee growth within company, no pay increases, and non-existant bonus.
Pros
Decent benefits and time off. Work-life balance encouraged. Most people are very friendly and pleasant to work with. Fairly casual environment when it pertains to dress-code.
Cons
Not much upward movement. Most people leave the company to further their careers. Although work-life balance is encouraged, the amount of work expected does not allow for such a balance. More diversity (culturally and in management positions) would bring the company to the 21st century as how more of the U.S. is represented (not just "Conservative" )
Advice to Senior Management
Management should find ways of acknowledging the supporting staffs hard work and commitment to contributing to quality products and services that Shea produces. This should not come in empty "thank you's" or certificates of acknowledgments. Something a mot more tangible/valuable would go a long way. Seven Habits should be led by example.
Pros
I enjoyed working at Shea Homes wand would love to still be there, they are a private family run business and they do not micro manage you. They trust and respect there employees.
Cons
Working at Shea Homes was a pleasure, I did not really not like anything - if I had to choose something it would be last minute cash flows and not receiving feedback on how you did on the previous cash flows.
Advice to Senior Management
The management of shea homes needs to continue to involve the associates, and seek their ideas. I really liked the one on one interviews with senior management.
Pros
Good product. Good people. Good neighborhoods and marketing. Will be one of the winners when things turn.
Cons
Local managers could be better - big time cronyism.
Advice to Senior Management
Company is so much better than the local sales mgt. in place.
