    Pros

The staff is friendly and there is work life balance. There is a range of clientele industry to prevent monotony.

    Cons

It's an old boys network. It is the nly firm I know of that doesn't feed staff/offer meal per diem when they work ten hours or more.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tune in to morale issues and truly consider the cost/benefit.

I have been working at Shea Labagh Dobberstein

    Pros

The firm allows me to take on as much as I want and feel I am ready for - sometimes even a bit more. This makes work a challenge. There is not much hierarchy so even staff work directly with partners. The outsourcing of some tax prep during busy season keeps the hours down for everyone (no one works Sunday unlike other places I have worked).

    Cons

The firm is not one to have meetings so the unofficial communications are sometimes the way news and changes are discovered. The tax department paperless system (1040 scan) is cumbersome and difficult to work with at times but must be used - sometimes it causes extra time when not using the system could go much faster with better results and less frustration.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More formal communication would be helpful.

I have been working at Shea Labagh Dobberstein

    Pros

Interesting privately held client, very skilled senior members of the firm to learn from regarding technical issues.

    Great work life balance

    Very generous compensation package

    Cons

The firm seems busy all year so there is not much down time. Most of their clients are in he Bay Area so there is not a tremendous amoun of travel.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The leadership of the firm should continue on improving the training and skills of every level of staff. This makes everyone's job more satisfying.

I worked at Shea Labagh Dobberstein

    Pros

The people are great to work with and the opportunity for growth is encouraged. I like the fact that I could work on many diverse client industries and really get to know the clients rather than just "pushing numbers."

    Cons

As most places, it would be nice to have heard more positive feedback when doing a good job. Training could also be strengthened.
