I have been working at Shea Properties full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Strong financial backing and a "do the right thing" culture make working for Shea easy. People are friendly from the top down. There are lots of in place resources (marketing and facilities teams to name a couple) to support the properties. In fact, support from the corporate office is amazing.

We have an on-boarding process that really gets new associates off to a great start! In the apartment side, we are planning to almost double the portfolio over the next few years making growth opportunity not only a very real possibility, but an expectation.

    Cons

The only con I can think of is the long hours when short staffed or during super busy seasons, but that's the case in any property management company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the current trend of promoting people from within the company! Also, add needed resources and people as the company continues to grow.

I have been working at Shea Properties full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

People are very friendly, they definitely are selective of who they hire and I guess that's good. There is basically no office politics or drama here. The work is interesting and they do fun things.

    Cons

Hard to move around, for example working for Shea Property you don't get to work at Shea Homes. Also lots of complicated software to learn.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    More training on software.

I have been working at Shea Properties full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of great people work here, even at the top. Co-workers are all friendly and most are hilarious, which makes time go by fast. They really stand behind their product and are committed to building projects that stand out from the crowd. I like it here because they don't slap their name on everything and are much more laid back than some other land developers.

    Cons

Process is slow and everything takes a long time to move forward. This includes career development and advancement. For example there is no mentor program.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop a structured program for associates to move around within Shea.

I have been working at Shea Properties full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Shea has an exceptional moral foundation and it reflects in their business practices and in the people they hire. They have built a culture that strives for excellence and allow you the tools to succeed. The company is an innovator in their space, which is exciting, because you are able to lead industry trends and management is not afraid to take risks. Shea also focuses on continued education within your niche and allows the opportunity to network. I believe the best thing about working for Shea is their core values: honesty and integrity, respect for the individual, teamwork and competitive spirit – you feel those values every day when you walk in the door.

    Cons

There is not too much room to move within the company – so like your position and own it. You probably still have a lot of skills to learn in that position anyways and Shea will help you grow those skills.

    Pros

Shea's culture is rooted in respect for people, and they really stick to that. They've been around since the late 1800's and have built some great projects like the hoover dam and NYC subway tunnels. The company is very collaborative and open. No drama.

    Cons

Promotions are hard to come by, in fact so are reviews. lol.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More employee events and maybe more perks like golf.
