    Cons

weird obsession with safety. lots of corporate culture things. no cafeteria on site, so you had to leave to get lunch every day. hr is generally slow- but shell canada is better than royal dutch shell

I worked at Shell Canada full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Worked nearly 15 years for Shell and had some great experiences and some good leadership. Opportunity for advancement is mostly tied to your contacts and relationships. And that`s unfortunate as performance and execution is secondary.Generally, good work-life balance and compensation however politics is ubiquitous.

    Cons

As indicated prior, promotion is mostly tied to your contacts hence advancement is limited if relationships are not forged early and one does not buy into relationship management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Managers should be upheld to the most ethical work standards with integrity at top of mind. Transparency and review of managements ability to lead should be reviewed and tested at times to ensure the right leaders are focusing on growth and opportunity rather then their own personal gain.

I have been working at Shell Canada as an intern

    Pros

    People are nice and friendly.

    Cons

The application process was very time-consuming and the salary is not as good as other oil and gas companies. The interns are assessed based on their projects instead of comprehensive skills. (many interns failed their assessment at Shell but it doesnt means they are not great workers.) My mentor and supervisor did not provide constructive feedback during my internship.

    Pros

Good training experience Looks good on payper

    Cons

Policy of solely contact hire leaves workers with no chance of permanent hire even though constantly baited with this promise
