I have been working at Sherwin-Williams part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

good company name great products some older employees who know the products stores being remodeled to modernize up to the expected standards

    Cons

hard work for low pay older employees are entrenched into doing things the "old way" and not adapting new technology for moving and lifting paint thus causing back injuries

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

convince the employees that the new tech will help them in the long run and preserve their backs and shoulders The building boom is taking off again and you need good full time employees that have product knowledge NOT part time employees that have to work two jobs in order to have a living wage

    I worked at Sherwin-Williams

    Pros

Great pay and room for advancement if willing to relocate. You do get good training when starting in the manager training program out of college.

    Cons

Middle and upper management are out of touch. They tell you to sell this product but don't always look at the geographical location of each store and what the demographics are. Middle management can be very irate and disrespectful when numbers aren't better than 100%. They are very short staffed in the stores and managers must always pick up those hours. You are way over worked for even the good salary. They also don't listen to what you have to say about things. Everything is seen as an excuse of why you didn't hit a target.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees. This isn't a family valued business. Quit trying to keep up with Lowes and Home Depot by trying to get 7 & 8 pm paint sales. Look at your employees and what is best for them, not just the numbers on the P&L.

I have been working at Sherwin-Williams

    Pros

Good benefits if you can get them, good retirement if you can make it. Chance for advancement if you can move.

    Cons

If you're not willing or able to relocate plan on being in the same position. Not enough diversity. Management has very snobbish outlook on store employees. Treats them like lesser citizens. Plan on making sales calls.

    I worked at Sherwin-Williams

    Pros

Great company for experience on your resume. Nice people to work with if you are in the right department.

    Cons

A ton of higher up bosses who think they don't have to do anything because they've been there so long. Vacation days take awhile to build.

    I have been working at Sherwin-Williams part-time

    Pros

Fun challenges, unique products to work with, changes day to day

    Cons

Pay compared to job requirements suck. You basically need to be an assistant manager but without the pay. Moving up in the company is impossible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop looking over good employees and pushing them away.
