Introduce a dedicated training or orientation program.

I have been working at Shoppers Drug Mart (More than 3 years)

    Pros

30% discount is great, gratis is amazing. Decent flexibility around other jobs and school.

    Cons

Manager only cares about sales (making her 20% commission off of what we sell), corporate standards are put on the back burner. Manager is micro and invades privacy on a personal level and also harasses me with calls and texts. Every location I've worked in is very caddy, everyone talks badly about one another. Favourtism is a huge problem. Closing at midnight and having to open at 8am the next day. Only 10 cent raise per year unless you're a "favourite."

    Advice to Management

Be fair to everyone. Part time benefits. Advice to corporate: Implement some regulations that benefit the working conditions of employees. Save us from poor management. Give them rules to follow!

    Pros

SDM offers flexibility with scheduling, working around school schedules or other job schedules. There is a great deal of corporate autonomy given to each store/operator, which is amazing. People are motivated knowing they are working for their store. There is room for growth and regular raises.

    Cons

It is difficult to move from part-time to full-time; no benefits for part-timers; starting pay is slightly above minimum wage.
