    Pros

Working with Co-workers -- work culture had a significant impact on why I stayed there for four years.

    Cons

Management cutting hours to reduce costs also reduces number of workers. I worked there for four years, and by the time I left I took on a Merchandising role with my Supervisor role to make up for "not enough people".

    Advice to Management

I suggest benefits to keep part-time employees longer and reduce turnover.

    Pros

nice and professional environment, good people

    Cons

Job requires hard work for long hours. Most of the time pharmacies are understaffed. There is not enough time to eat or use the washroom which creates unhealthy work conditions for heath care providers.

    Advice to Management

Although as a pharmacy tech you are entitled to have 15 min coffee and 30 min lunch break, most of the days it is impossible to take it. Because it is very busy and pharmacies are short of staff. Either increase staffing or give a down time to pharmacy for people to eat, drink and rejuvenate. 6-8 hours is too long to stay focused without a break.

It was fine, a good place for students in high school. Not a life-long career choice.

    Pros

    - I always had lots of customer interaction
-I was always busy during every shift: lots of things to get finished

    Cons

    -Imbalanced workload.
-Very low amounts of promotions for "younger" people. (This could have been just my location)
-Commission earned was NEVER broken down and shown to me: I think that our boss had a way to get us ripped off. One month I only made $20 comission, on quite high sales.

    Advice to Management

-Never underestimate a young, pretty face.
-Have a better communication strategy with your cosmetics department about the Cosmetics Managers hired. I was very unhappy with most hired: I wound up training them! And they were the ones making the big bucks.

    Pros

great pay and benefits if your full time
support from managment of course depends on your particular store and how its run, you can't rate shoppers as a chain based on one store

    Cons

timekeeping system is to finiky and tends to lead to an hour or two loss on paychecks
    the pos system is ancient
major cuts and job losses right now due to recession and generic drug issue
    pay for cashiers to low

    Advice to Management

every managment team is different depending what store you are at.
Managment has to follow corporate rules, some staff do not like the changes but its out of the store's hands.
