Pros
OK benefits and works around my busy schedule.
Cons
Not many advancing opportunities. Sometimes feel treated unfairly when it comes to dividing daily tasks.
Pros
The staff discount is great, the constant evolution is a nice as it never gets boring, good corporate responsibility which makes you feel like there may be a heart...
Cons
Poor collaboration between various levels/ areas of business, inconsistent management styles at store level at time leads to poor execution of well thought out programs
Advice to Senior Management
I think everyone in the organization needs to "walk the walk" and lead by example to make an effective change.
Pros
good people to work with, commission, you feel valued, as a beauty adviser you need to be wearing makeup they sell at shoppers which is great, because you get tons of it for FREE!, really good discount , management is good!
Cons
customers can be so rude, the return policy is confusing sometimes, supervisors can be grumpy to the younger people working, some supervisors are lazy and expect the younger people to do everything
Advice to Senior Management
keep a closer look on the supervisors, some of them are really unfair to the part times & get away with doing things like reading mags while they work, and just overall being lazy!!!
Pros
I am very proud of what this company has to offer it's client base, we offer excellent customer service and convience of an all in one shop! If you dont have pride in what you do, how can you enjoy it?
Cons
Having both the experience of working for Shoppers Drug Mart in Ontario and Alberta, I have to say that the structure and standards are not as high out in Alberta, due to the boom a few years back, some people were put into management positions out of sheer desparation and you can tell.
Advice to Senior Management
Keeping your team motivated and consistently praised for good work really goes a long way. Plus if the company offered a profit sharing type benefit we would have more staff trying harder to see the continual success of this company!!
Pros
If you have a good manager you learn alot and get great feedback.
You get 30% off.
You get alot of free stuff from schools.
Cons
If you have a bad manager you will know more than her and she will complain that you didn't have time to clean.
Supervisors think they're your boss.
Some managers don't give you your gifts from the companies.
Advice to Senior Management
I urge you to please hire someone who is actually qualified and know something about cosmetics. I've worked at multiple locations and one of them didn't have a clue. Also, be sure to hire someone who's honest and isn't stealing from you.
Pros
It offers a decent benefit package and a safe work environment. Working there gives you a good resume value and you can work relatively close to home.
Cons
No professional or economical progress, constant workload increases and no management interest in rewarding good performance. Work hours very unregular (nights and weekends).
Advice to Senior Management
Value the staff. Make them feel you care about them and you appreciate and notice talent and good performance overall
Pros
some of the staff and discount
Cons
extremely poor raises. 2% per year regardless of how many jobs you do. no preformance bonus unless you work in cosmetics where you make commission on sales plus your hourly rate. raises should be based on work ethic, team performance, knowledge etc and not with a 2% cap.Cost of living goes up more than that a year. Shoppers = more work , less hours, less staff, more profit for corporate office!!! spend some of that money on your employees
Advice to Senior Management
since store managers receive a performance bonus maybe they should request one for key staff as this is who does all the work and really care about the customer, ensure that the right people are receiving credit for the hard work and dedication they show in their job consistently with a decent raise!!
Pros
-30% discount
-Helpful coworkers, where I work
-Helping customers
Cons
-Lack of organization
-Lots of work, low pay
Pros
helping others is fun. they also give me benefits you know.
Cons
some times the management yells at me for touching cookies
Advice to Senior Management
some times its too busy and we are understaffed i dont like you know
Pros
Timings weren't that bad, and some of my co-workers were quite nice. The pay was okay..not bad. Locations are plentiful...one right by my house.
Cons
My boss was horrible. The management was atrocious. During the busy hours work would get really tedious and hectic. Ended up coming home with a sore wrist every evening.
